Junior Accountant
About the Role
The Junior Accountant will form part of the finance function within Rubicon, reporting to the Finance Manager. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the preparation of management and statutory reports, and assisting with compliance requirements. This position offers exposure across the full finance function and will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts in line with company policies and IFRS.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Perform variance analysis and provide initial insights into divisional performance.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Record daily financial transactions accurately and on time.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and intercompany balances.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, including depreciation and amortisation schedules.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and assist with submissions.
- Support compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
- Assist in documenting and improving financial policies and controls.
Audit & Assurance
- Provide supporting documentation and schedules for external auditors.
- Assist in implementing audit recommendations and control enhancements.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with colleagues across finance, operations, and management teams to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential).
- 1–2 years of accounting experience.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
- Exposure to tax and VAT advantageous.
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite and CaseWare preferred but not essential).
- Strong Excel skills and general systems aptitude.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and willing to take on responsibility.
