Role Purpose

The Sales Consultant (Strategic Stock Sales) is responsible for driving sales by identifying opportunities and customers for the company’s surplus, legacy, and slow-moving product ranges. These include energy solutions, lighting products, industrial automation equipment, and EV-related stock. The role requires an entrepreneurial sales approach, strong industry networks, and the ability to create value-driven solutions for customers while maximising revenue recovery from non-core inventory.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive sales of designated product ranges, ensuring stock is placed with suitable customers and markets.
  • Proactively develop strategies to move surplus and legacy stock in a commercially viable manner.
  • Identify new customers and distribution channels specifically suited for these product categories.
  • Negotiate sales and close deals to achieve and exceed agreed sales and commission targets.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop strong relationships with wholesalers, resellers, and industrial customers to place available stock.
  • Understand client needs and tailor offers to ensure surplus stock is positioned as a value solution.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to encourage repeat business and build trust in the company’s brand.

Collaboration & Support

  • Liaise closely with procurement, warehouse, and product teams to understand available stock profiles.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and promotions to accelerate sales.
  • Share market intelligence and customer insights with the wider sales team to support overall business strategy.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate sales records and activity reporting using CRM systems.
  • Prepare weekly updates on pipeline, sales progress, and market feedback.
  • Ensure that all transactions comply with company policies and financial controls.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Matric / NQF4 equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in sales within electrical, lighting, energy, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.

Beneficial:

  • Existing network within wholesale, reseller, or industrial channels.
  • Background in moving surplus/legacy stock portfolios.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient and emerging technologies in lighting, EV, and automation.
