About the Lighting Designer role
We are hiring a Lighting Designer for our Lighting Division based at either our Cape Town or Gauteng office.
The purpose of the role is to produce engineered lighting calculations and to create and plan lighting specifications and drawings. This role supports the sales team with lighting design and technical support.
Role responsibilities:
- Produce engineered lighting calculations in specialist software
- Create and plan lighting specifications and detailed drawings using software tools such as AutoCAD.
- To support the sales team with lighting design and technical support.
- Support the team in creating product and design presentations and presenting to stakeholders.
- Ensure lighting projects are completed on time, within budget, and with proper documentation.
- Liaise with customers from concept to completion of projects. This may include new build and refurbishment projects, presentation and discussion of ideas, mock-ups, concepts, and alternative solution where necessary.
- Monitor technical compliance with project specification and building regulation requirements.
- Assists internal sales order processing staff in the management of project orders.
- Other duties as may be required from time to time provided that such duties are legal, reasonable and within your general capabilities.
- Attend team and/or project meetings and interface with internal specialty groups
- Attend site coordination and inspection of installation works
Role requirements:
- Matric/NQF4 or equivalent
- Post Matric qualification in Electrical Engineering advantageous
- 3-5 yrs experience in the design of building lighting systems
- Proficiency in specialist software such as Dialux, Relux and Revit
- Proficiency in drawing software tools such as AUTOCAD
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound technical knowledge and lighting skills
- IT and numeracy skills
- Valid Driver’s licence and own vehicle
