Job Purpose

The Retail Expansion and Audit Lead play a crucial role in facilitating M-KOPA's expansion in Ghana by identifying and establishing new retail shops and ensuring the maintenance, repair, and rebranding of existing shops. This position requires expertise in shop location assessment, lease contract processing, shop readiness, licenses and permits, property maintenance, and other assigned tasks. You will report to the Retail Manager. This is an #LI-Onsite" role.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Identify and evaluate potential competitive areas for opening new M-KOPA shops in Ghana.

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to determine strategic locations that align with M-KOPA's expansion objectives.

  • Close off shop lease agreements within specified timelines, in accordance with the expansion timetable.

  • Liaise with property owners, agents, and other stakeholders to negotiate favorable lease terms and conditions.

  • Carry out and maintain all property lease contract data in compliance with M-KOPA's procurement processes.

  • Ensure accurate documentation, record keeping, and adherence to legal and contractual requirements.

  • Coordinate the branding process and procure all necessary shop fittings and furnishings to create a functional and appealing retail environment.

  • Oversee the setup and preparation of new shops, ensuring they are ready for operations within the specified timelines.

  • Obtain all required licenses and permits in accordance with local and state government policies and regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements throughout the licensing process.

  • Manage maintenance and repair activities for all M-KOPA properties, including new and existing shops.

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and maintenance teams to promptly address any issues and ensure the upkeep of the properties.

  • Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall success of M-KOPA's retail expansion in Ghana.

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • At least 2 years of experience in a structured retail chain company, specifically in opening new stores and preparing them for operations.

  • Tertiary level education or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.

  • Good knowledge of areas outside Accra in Ghana, with an understanding of local market dynamics.

  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and manage relationships with various stakeholders.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role.
