The WWF Armenia Office is inviting leaders for the Director position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and ensure that overall office Strategy (comprising a Conservation Plan and Operational Plan) is developed and implemented as relevant to national policies, constituencies, and civil society, aligned with Regional Conservation Plan and WWF’s global conservation priorities.
  • Provide leadership to WWF Armenia staff to ensure effective implementation of country specific component of the Strategic Plan, effective engagement with national partners and constituencies and effective relationships with NOs and other donors.
  • Provide overall direction and leadership in developing and executing strategic objectives and institutional vision and transformation on the path to become a robust organization, with strong foundations in local civil society.
  • Strengthen WWF’s profile, reputation and credibility in Armenia and influence policies and best practices in line with WWF’s brand and global programme priorities.
  • Initiate and lead strategic partnerships relevant to strategic plan for WWF Armenia and institutional vision as well as WWF Network’s key initiatives.
  • Ensure that WWF Armenia has a solid long term development strategy, including a sound Financial Sustainability Plan, and is financially strong to deliver on its conservation agenda including covering core costs through programmatic funding and driving for operational excellence.
  • Ensure effective communications and partnerships with WWF Network, government, international organizations, other non-governmental organizations, media, social media, industry and public to ensure strong profile of WWF Armenia and its activities, as well as leveraging opportunities between national, regional, and global levels.
  • Ensure activities of WWF Armenia comply with relevant legal requirements and ethical standards including WWF’s core standards and WWF International policies.
  • Represent WWF Armenia at network meetings, vis-à-vis government, industry leaders, key supporters, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure on time quality technical, financial and management reporting to donors and all relevant parts of the WWF Network, according to agreed standards.

  • WWF Armenia understand their contribution including establishment of appropriate organizational structures, policies, processes, and departmental / office responsibilities with annual objective setting and performance reviews.
  • Establish, implement, and ensure that the Office is effectively and efficiently managed in all key areas – conservation, operations, finance, HR, communication, marketing, fundraising, policy and partnerships, risk management, environmental and social safeguards.
  • Effectively lead, coordinate, manage and develop the senior management team and support them in executing the strategy and managing talent and resources.
  • Use KPIs and other metrics to track strategy delivery and ensure high performance at organizational and staff levels.
  • Build a culture of performance, positivity, engagement, creativity and work ethics.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Regional Representative or his/her designate.


Required Qualifications, skills, competencies:

Required Qualifications

  • At least 15 years leadership experience in the international context, with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams and multiple donor budgets.
  • Master’s degree or higher in natural resources management, environmental or conservation management, development studies, or in relevant fields;
  • Proven track record in successfully developing, funding, leading, and managing large-scale programs and/or institutions in the field of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields;
  • Proven track record of fundraising from diverse sources, including Bilateral and Multilateral agencies, Corporates, and Individuals.
  • Superior oral and written communications skills in Armenian, English and Russian.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proven leadership skills, excellent capacity to manage human and financial resources, strong skills in project planning, financing, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated fundraising skills and experience with donor/government aid agencies.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, ability to operate at all levels and liaise effectively with local communities, government agencies, governmental policy and decision makers, as well the business community.
  • High level negotiation and influencing skills and the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels in business, non-profit, scientific and political communities.
  • Media relations skills and networking at the highest levels of Government and Business.
  • Track record of building organizational talent by nurturing performance culture, encouraging empowerment and delegation.
  • Strong diplomatic and communications skills, including an ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals (individual donors, business leaders, public figures, WWF staff) within a broad range of cultural environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the supervision and management all WWF staff working at WWF Armenia Branch Office. Directs day-to-day supervision of management team. Involved in hiring, development, and evaluation of all staff at WWF Armenia Branch Office.
