Job Profile

The Field Finance Coordinator supports the day-to-day financial operations at field level, ensuring accurate accounting, sound financial administration, and timely processing of routine financial requests. The role focuses on maintaining proper financial records, controls, and documentation at field level, while supporting smooth program implementation in compliance with WCS policies, donor requirements, and national regulations

Major Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Administration

  • Manage day-to-day accounting transactions at field level, including cash, bank, and mobile money transactions where applicable.
  • Process payments, advances, and reimbursements in accordance with WCS financial procedures and delegated authorities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, vouchers, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial documents at field level, in line with WCS standards.

Cash & Treasury Management

  • Manage petty cash and field cash balances, ensuring proper controls, reconciliations, and secure handling of funds.
  • Prepare regular cash counts and reconciliations and submit them to the capital finance team.
  • Monitor cash needs and support cash forecasting for field operations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls related to cash handling and segregation of duties.

Budget Monitoring & Field Support

  • Support field teams in tracking expenditures against approved budgets and guiding the charging codes for expenses.
  • Review field-level financial requests to ensure accuracy, completeness, and budget availability before processing.
  • Flag potential budget issues, overspending risks, or unusual transactions to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Support field management with basic financial information to inform operational decision-making.

Compliance, Controls & Audits

  • Ensure adherence to WCS financial policies, donor requirements, and national regulations at field level.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests related to field finance.
  • Implement audit recommendations and corrective actions related to field-level financial management.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the primary finance focal point at field level for day-to-day operational matters.
  • Liaise regularly with the capital-based finance team to ensure timely transmission of financial data and documentation.
  • Work closely with logistics, procurement, and program teams to ensure smooth financial workflows.
  • Support the induction of new staff, consultants, and visitors on field-level financial procedures.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial administration, preferably with an international NGO or development organization.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, internal controls, and financial administration processes.
  • Experience managing cash, advances, and field-level financial transactions in remote or decentralized environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for financial tracking and reconciliations.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-finance staff.
  • Fluency in English required
  • Knowledge of local regulations and operating context is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and operate effectively in field-based and challenging environments.
