Position SummaryThis position exists to honor God by leading the implementation of Water Mission’s Living Water program strategy within the Country Program, alongside related Health & Hygiene and Micro-enterprise & Sustainability activities, following established standards and procedures. The role bears witness to Christ and His kingdom through the spiritual formation of staff, church and community leaders, and other entities involved with the ministry, while providing strategic direction, training, and support for the implementation of E&D and Living Water activities at all levels. The position requires residence within the assigned duty location and regular travel to remote project sites to support program implementation and other Community Development activities.Status: Full-time employment with the opportunity for yearly contractual renewals.Our Culture: As an employee of Water Mission, the Evangelism and Discipleship Officer is responsible for developing a biblical worldview culture that leads to God-honoring excellence in all their work, reinforcing the following: providing accurate data; empowering staff to have the skills and mindset needed to acknowledge mistakes or problems as opportunities to find appropriate solutions; and empowering staff to consistently work for excellence in solutions that are consistent with Water Mission’s mission, vision, values, and standards.1.0 General Duties1.1 Mission Driven Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.Promote and fulfill the Mission and Vision of Water Mission through words, actions, and initiatives.Work with staff to foster an environment of honoring God as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ through word and deed. 1.2 Key ResponsibilitiesWitness, Evangelism & Discipleship Review and develop the Living Water curriculum and other training and learning materials.Share the gospel of Jesus Christ to transform communities, including through film screenings of the life of Christ, fellowship events, outdoor crusades, and prayer in communities, hospitals, and schools.Share and distribute Living Water resources (Messengers, Lightstreams, USB/flash media, SD cards, books, and pamphlets) and install gospel media streaming devices in selected projects.Organize and conduct E&D and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) training programs for Water Mission staff, WASH actors, pastors, and other religious leaders of different denominations in project areas.Train and provide resources to pastors and church leaders for their daily life of worship and sermon preparation.Coordinate mission teams and ministry partner meetings with strategic partners.Actively plan and participate in project commissioning, celebrations, and graduations.Mobilize and assist local churches in implementing Integral Mission in their communities.Support the formation of Safe Water Committee (SWC), WASH, and school members from a Christian worldview. Training & Curriculum Development Develop transformative training content and standardize spiritual knowledge and goals across all projects, including materials for pastors’ workshops, inductive Bible study, and marriage seminars.Review Living Water materials to identify areas for further development and recommend improvements to the Director of Living Water.Coordinate and run seminars and pastors’ workshops in project areas on a regular schedule, and conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual follow-up activities to monitor and evaluate Living Water activities. Spiritual Formation of Staff Develop and recommend tools and strategies for the spiritual development of staff.Compile and submit prayer ripples to the Head Office when requested.Organize daily devotions through a devotions roster and distribute spiritual content for staff well-being.Prepare, coordinate, and lead meetings, spiritual retreats, and devotionals with staff to share the Word of God and cultivate authentic Christian community.Participate in and organize days of retreat, prayer, and fasting.Provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support, counseling, and discipleship to staff.Coordinate with external preachers, teachers, speakers, or pastors during staff meetings and prayer sessions.Support internal discipleship, fostering a Christian culture with solid values that promote spiritual, professional, and intellectual growth.Provide assistance to the HR Department in hiring, including evaluating spiritual references and interviewing applicants in the spiritual area. Networking, Collaboration & Mobilization Network and collaborate with faith-based Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), churches, and other religious groups, as well as the broader development community and relevant government bodies.Mobilize church leaders and communities to support the implementation and sustainability of Safe Water Projects.Ensure the Country Program is effectively partnered in the field with local churches, and assist in evaluating local churches of sound doctrine for potential engagement in community programs.Serve as a spokesperson as needed, representing the ministry to other organizations and the public, in cooperation with other department leaders.Participate in conferences, workshops, and related events to learn and contribute to solid practices and spiritual growth in the field.Liaise and coordinate with external resources to advise, review, and evaluate field activities and content on sound practices and metrics.Initiate partner relationships with other ministry partners to help equip and empower communities.Provide timely, professional, and courteous communication through appropriate channels.Follow up on target beneficiaries to obtain testimonies and document impact stories. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Reporting Develop activity budgets and implementation plans for Evangelism, Discipleship, and Living Water activities, in liaison with the direct supervisor and Director of Living Water.Prepare financial requests and reconciliations for project activities promptly and in accordance with financial policy.Work with the procurement desk to source quotations and procure materials and resources for Living Water and other activities.Complete, in a timely manner, weekly work plans and monthly reports detailing the results of Living Water activities, reviewed and approved by the direct supervisor.Prepare quarterly reports, monthly reports, project-specific reports, and donor reports, including photographs, testimonials, water quality follow-up, and the most significant stories relevant to the program.Make periodic field activity reports and photos from all country projects. Program Support & Compliance Implement community development aspects of projects according to Water Mission standards when required.Support the Community Development Team in the creation of Safe Water Committees and the management of water projects and carry out continuous monitoring when needed.Solve problems within communities that threaten the success of a project and perform field visits to support evaluation of the spiritual area.Ensure capacity building for staff and external stakeholders in Church and Community Mobilization to strengthen commitment to the integral mission.Take care of and be responsible for the tools and equipment assigned for the role.Comply with the organization’s conditions of service, policies, procedures, professional codes of conduct, and health and safety standards. 1.3 Other tasks may be assigned.2.0 Qualifications, Skills, and Experience2.1 Relationship and Alignment Personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Water Mission.A clear, God-given calling to the mission of Water Mission. 2.2 Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in theology, Divinity, Christian Education, Religious or Biblical Studies, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an added advantage. High school/university graduates with relevant experience will also be considered.Minimum of 2–4 years of experience coordinating missions, evangelism, and discipleship programs, church-related work, cross-cultural ministry, pastoral work, or a relevant church management or project management position.Experience in cross-cultural work, church structures, and building inter-church coalitions, with a strong understanding of local culture.Experience in non-governmental or faith-based work engagements is desirable.Basic to proficient understanding of the English language. 2.3 Skills and Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Office 365 experience preferred).Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with strong public speaking ability.Good analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.Ability to work with minimum supervision, with punctuality, order, and discipline.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, cooperation, and teamwork.Good photography and documentation skills.High level of integrity.Must have a valid driver’s license.Willingness and ability to travel to remote project locations, including long journeys on rough terrain, standing for extended periods in hot weather, and lifting moderately heavy items.Legal authorization to work in the assigned country without sponsorship. 2.4 Ministerial Requirements Christian experience: Demonstrated Christian maturity that comes from walking with the Lord, with understanding and commitment to the Mission and Vision of Water Mission.Desire for ministry: A genuine aspiration and calling to serve as a minister of the gospel.Aptitude for preaching and teaching: Ability to preach and clearly teach God’s Word.Ecclesiastical recognition: A ministerial recommendation from the leaders of the church of which the candidate is a member.Sound doctrine: Well-founded biblical convictions, consistent with the truth of God’s Word.Christian witness: A strong, consistent Christian witness before colleagues, donors, volunteers, and the public.
