Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Country Director, the Project Manager directly supports Water Mission’s vision of providing safe water and an opportunity to share God’s love with all. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, reporting, and monitoring Water Mission Uganda's water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with Water Mission standards and donor requirements. The role provides technical leadership and project management oversight for assigned projects and related activities, ensuring quality planning, implementation, , and sustainability of water systems.The Project Manager works closely with internal teams, contractors, consultants, community stakeholders, government authorities, and implementing partners to deliver safe water solutions that transform lives. This position requires residence in Jinja and frequent travel to project sites throughout Uganda.Our Culture: Water Mission Uganda fosters a biblical worldview culture that pursues God-honoring excellence. Employees may be assigned additional responsibilities as necessary to support the organization's mission and objectives.1.0 Duties and Responsibilities1.1 Mission Driven Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, donors, partners, volunteers, the communities we serve, and the public. Lead and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions. Understand, support, exemplify, and nurture the mission, vision, values, and standards of Water Mission.Promote a culture of accountability across the organization. 1.2 Project Management and Implementation Provide overall project management oversight for all assigned tasks and projects.Develop project implementation plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.Ensure projects are implemented according to approved scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Coordinate project activities with internal departments, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify quality, and address implementation challenges.Ensure timely project completion and successful handover of completed systems to communities and relevant stakeholders.Review and check for accuracy and alignment all project documents, requisitions, and other project documents and reports.Assist with proposal writing, grant applications, and grant reporting.Ensure that Water Mission data bases related to assigned projects are up to date and accurate.Oversee the effective coordination of all assigned project activities between engineering, community development, Evangelism & Discipleship, Professionalized Services, carbon, MEL, Accounting, and Supply Chain.Provide management oversight of local contractors.Support staff resource tracking and scheduling to ensure good utilization of staff time.Support vehicle and equipment tracking and scheduling to ensure efficient use and good stewardship.Any other duties assigned by your supervisor. 1.3 Community Assessments and Project Development Support site assessments, feasibility studies, and project evaluations.Support water quality and quantity assessments, survey measurements, and other technical investigations.Collaborate with Community Development and Program teams during project identification and planning. 1.4 Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation Maintain accurate project records, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.Provide timely and accurate project updates to the Country Director and relevant stakeholders.Ensure Water Mission data bases are updated regularly and are accurate for all active projects in accordance with Water Mission requirements.Prepare project completion reports and lessons learned documentation. 1.5 Contract and Financial Management Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.Track project expenditures and support budget management efforts.Ensure service contracts are properly managed and documented.Review, verify, and process contractor payment applications in coordination with the Finance Department.Promote cost-effective project implementation and responsible stewardship of organizational resources to ensure good value for money.Support Supply Chain activities as required by conducting reviews and other tasks as required. Ensure that all reviews reflect good stewardship, are appropriate for the corresponding project/assignment, and reflect in every capacity the values of Water Mission. 1.6 Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain productive relationships with community leaders, government agencies, implementing partners, and other stakeholders.Represent Water Mission professionally during meetings, site visits, and stakeholder engagements.Support collaboration efforts that enhance project sustainability and community impact. Ministry Integration Foster a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.Demonstrate alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.Demonstrate Christian servant leadership in all aspects of work.Support Water Mission's ministry objectives through personal conduct and professional interactions.Participate in organizational spiritual activities as appropriate.Share the message of the Living Water through words and actions consistent with Water Mission's mission and values. Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Director. 2.0 Qualifications and Experience2.1 Education Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering field.Master’s degree in a relevant field is desired but not required.Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and membership in a relevant professional body are added advantages. 2.2 Experience Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing water, sanitation, infrastructure, or community development projects.Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.Experience in rural water supply systems, construction supervision, and contractor management preferred.Experience working with NGOs, faith-based organizations, or international development organizations is an advantage. 3.0 Skills and Competencies Strong project management and organizational skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management tools.Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or engineering design software is an advantage.Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Uganda. Working Conditions Based in Jinja, Uganda.Frequent travel to remote project locations across Uganda.Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required to meet project deadlines and organizational needs.
