What is the opportunity?
SWIG is a Water Mission owned, Christian social business that operates and maintains safe water solutions for people in developing countries, refugee camps and disaster areas. As an employee of Safe water Infrastructure Group Initiative (SWIG) , the Data and IT Specialist is responsible for developing a biblical worldview culture that leads to God-honoring excellence in all work and reinforces the following: providing accurate data, empowering staff to have the skills and mindset needed to acknowledge mistakes or problems as opportunities to find appropriate solutions, and consistently work for excellence in solutions that are consistent with Water Mission’s mission, vision, values, and standards.
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director, the Data and IT Specialist – is responsible for performing the duties and tasks as outlined below. This is a full-time position and requires that the person resides near the Safe water Infrastructure Group Initiative (SWIG) office and travels to remote locations within Luuka district.
This role will support the team in ensuring sustainable operation and maintenance, as well as the extension of distribution points in communities where Water Mission implements safe water projects.
Status: Full-Time-Fixed Term Contract

Key duties and responsibilities

IT operations
- Manage various database analyses, report creation and distribution, and dashboard maintenance.
- Coordinate with internal and external vendors, such as iSAtech, mWater, and Assetas.
- Manage the STS prepaid meter inventory, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Procurement and management of all IT hardware and software, including third-party services, ensuring that IT services provided are delivered according to the required service level objectives and the satisfaction of the end users.
- IT Issue/Problem Resolution: Monitor, provide support where required, and act as main point-of -contact for all IT service incidences and problems experienced by end-users in the SWIG office, raising escalations to IT regional management at WMU where required and providing due communication to impacted end-users, to ensure timely resolution and communication are provided.
- IT Onboarding Process: Work closely with the director and IT (WMU) for new hires, to shepherd/manage the IT tasks (from job posting to commencement), according to the IT Onboarding process for new hires in the SWIG office, ensuring all essential hardware, software, access, IT services, and training are provided.
- IT Assets: Manage and maintain up-to-date records of all IT assets (hardware, e.g., laptops, monitors, printers, routers, etc.). Reclaim, prepare, and securely store IT assets of departing staff for redeployment, and prepare and deploy assets for new hires.
- IT Vendors: With the director, manage relationships and services with third-party IT service vendors for contract renewals and ensure agreed service levels are provided.
- IT Security and Compliance: Ensure IT Security policies and procedures, and regulatory and licensing requirements are adhered to in providing IT solutions and services to end-users in the SWIG office.
- Support the costumer inquiry and tracking software.
- Be part of an on-call rotation to respond to system outages during weekends, working collaboratively with the team to ensure timely resolutions, which may include in-person support if necessary.

Education Qualification and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in IT,ICT, Computer Science and Computer Engineering.
- 3+ years of hands on experience and competency in supporting IT infrastructure solutions and services including end user solutions. The preference is for 5+ years experience.
- Technology experience including Azure, MS windows, MS office, network and network appliances, Windows and Mac Laptops/Devices
- IT certification/training preferred.(eg CompTIAA+)
