Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Irrigation Officer to join our team! As an irrigation expert, you will play a key role in promoting sustainable farming practices and our solar-powered products and services to local farmers and farmer groups. Strong understanding and experience in application of broader agribusiness principles will be considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead development of irrigation and agribusiness related products and services to be offered by the company to farmers, effectively contributing to the growth plans of the company
  2. Lead engagement with farmers and farmer groups to promote the adoption of the latest irrigation farming techniques and solar-powered technologies
  3. Manage customer relationships and provide technical support to ensure our customers have the tools to succeed
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective communication and marketing strategies to facilitate uptake of our products and services
  5. Conduct training sessions and workshops as needed from time to time
  6. Monitor and report on progress, identifying areas for improvement
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our offerings

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Technology, Irrigation Engineering or related field
  2. A relevant Master of Science in Irrigation Engineering is advantageous
  3. Proven experience in irrigation management, farming, or a related field
  4. Strong understanding and experience in application of broader agribusiness principles will be considered an asset
  5. Strong understanding of solar-powered irrigation systems and sustainable farming practices
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  8. Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively
  9. Passion for contributing to Malawi’s socio-economic development
  10. Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Chichewa. Understanding of other local languages will be considered an asset.
