We are seeking a highly driven and results-oriented Assistant Manager – Lake Logistics to lead critical farm operations and logistics functions. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of Harvesting, Boats and Distribution, Boat Maintenance, and Net Fabrication operations, while driving operational excellence, resource optimization, and team performance. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering seamless logistics, maintaining high operational standards, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Boat Maintenance and Distribution
▪ Oversee our day-to-day Lake Logistics Operations and general maintenance, ensuring optimal distribution models and regular maintenance schedules.
▪ Develop and implement strategies to improve distribution efficiency and productivity by developing new processes or procedures, identifying, and resolving operational issues such as downtime.
▪ Set and monitor distribution KPIs, and making necessary adjustments to ensure that these KPIs are met or exceeded.
▪ Implement health and safety protocols for the boat and distribution team. - Net Washing, Fabrication, and Inspection
▪ Oversee day-to-day net washing, fabrication, and Inspection, by working closely with the supervisors to ensure targets are achieved and exceeded (both quality and quantity).
▪ Develop and implement strategies to optimize the use of resources, minimize costs, and maximize efficiency. You will also collaborate with Lake Aqua to ensure all Net needs are satisfied and aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the teams and organization.
▪ Keep good reconciliation of nets movement and handling with good understanding of requirement impact. - Fish Harvesting
▪ Oversee day-to-day harvesting operations ensuring optimal timing and efficient utilization of resources.
▪ Ensure compliance with protocol for handling harvested fish and other resources such as sein nets, protective nets, among others.
▪ Optimizing processes including deployment of tools to simplify the harvesting process.
▪ Make informed decisions regarding targets and KPIs.
▪ Participate in harvest planning meetings to understand priority for the week.
▪ Ensure set targets are met and escalate challenges from time to time for immediate action.
▪ Follow up on priority closure of cages to facilitate re-stocking
▪ Play a pro-active role in ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated for successful fish harvest and evacuation (sinkers removal, collection boats etc)
▪ Update and enforce all relevant SOPs covering partial harvest, full harvest and morts collection.
▪ Work with cross-functional departments to remain within harvest plan.
▪ Ensure critical timelines are adhered to. Observe start time and cut-off times. - Team management and Leadership
▪ Lead, mentor, and manage the teams.
▪ Set clear departmental goals and performance targets in line with the company’s overall objectives.
▪ Develop and implement strategies to optimize productivity, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiency.
▪ Allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands while adhering to budgetary constraints.
▪ Implement performance metrics and tracking systems to monitor the department’s KPIs.
▪ Regularly report on departmental performance to the Senior Operations Manager and identify areas for improvement. - Health, Safety & Quality Management
▪ Ensure safety protocols are followed from time to time and that every member is aware of critical control points (CCPs)
▪ Enforce all related SOPs and protocols
▪ Ensure all members on harvest team are adequately trained on safe harvesting operation and quality fish delivery.
▪ Follow up on quality monitoring aspects of fish handling; seining, bagging, scooping and icing while delivering to processing department.
▪ Ensure all harvest operatives are of good health status and can properly cope with lake environment.
▪ Follow up with technical team to have ready and in working conditions; scoop net, sein net, crane and well services gen set.
▪ Strictly comply with all governing regulation, both internally and externally
Skills and Qualifications
▪ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
▪ 5+ years of experience in managing operations, logistics, and supply chain functions within an organization.
