Vestas Southern Africa currently operates and maintain 12 wind farms in South Africa, combined installed capacity over 900MW and currently recruiting a Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) responsible for the Eastern Cape wind farms. This position will be based in Port Elizabeth or any site in the Eastern Cape.

 

Responsibilities:

- Inspection and load testing of all lifting machinery equipment accordance with legislation, standards, manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
- Report variances to Site Supervisor, Area Manager and HSE Manager/HSE Professionals. 
- Inspection of lifting gear, internal hoist, anchor points, ladder/rail systems and service platforms/lifts
- Conduct risk assessment and compliance to safety procedures
- Submit daily activity reports to Service Site Supervisor on site
- Manage assistants and delegate workload accordingly
- Attend Vestas wind farms to inspect and examine lifting equipment and associated equipment. 
- Participate in client safety meetings if required, ensure toolbox talks are conducted prior to job commencement.
- Ensure turbines are left clean and tidy at all times
- Ensure that all certification paperwork is completed and correct before leaving the wind farm.
- Maintain related test equipment, tools, and machinery in good working condition
- Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

-Grade 12 Matriculated or equivalent from registered school or education institute with mathematics and science passed.
-Technical Qualification - Trade Tested/N. Diploma - Elec/Mech Eng. 
-GWO Certified Training - Would be Preferred  
-Registered Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) - ECSA
-Valid Driver's License 
-Experience in Wind Turbines, Lifting Gear Inspections, anchor points, ladder/fall arrest rails, crane hoist and Service platforms. 
-Avanti & Power Climber Service Lift Training. Level 1, 2 & 3.
