About The Role:
Reporting to the Talent Manager, the Talent Officer, will support the implementation of UpEnergy’s Global Talent Strategy within the Ghana operations. The role will be responsible for managing day-to-day HR activities, supporting recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and ensuring compliance with Ghana Labour Laws.
The Talent Officer will play a critical role in fostering a positive organizational culture rooted in teamwork, accountability, inclusiveness, and high performance, while serving as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Compensation, Benefits, and HR Operations:
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring all new hires are properly onboarded.
- Coordinate probation reviews, confirmations, contract renewals, and exit processes.
- Manage employee benefits including health insurance, SSNIT contributions, and other statutory benefits.
- Support monthly payroll processing by providing accurate employee data and resolving payroll-related queries.
- Ensure full compliance with Ghana Labour Laws and statutory HR requirements.
- Support recruitment activities across Ghana in collaboration with hiring managers and the Global Talent team.
Employee Relations & Talent Policies:
- Support the communication and consistent application of Global and local HR policies.
- Act as a bridge between management and employees by addressing HR-related queries, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Promote organizational values and a positive employee experience.
- Monitor employee leave, ensure proper documentation, and support leave planning across teams.
Talent Management & Leadership Development:
- Support retention, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
- Coordinate learning and development programs, trainings, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Assist in implementing coaching and mentoring programs in collaboration with departmental heads.
Performance Management & HR Compliance:
- Support the implementation of the performance management cycle including goal setting, regular check-ins, appraisals, and development planning.
- Engage line managers on performance improvement, feedback, and employee development initiatives.
- Support HR reporting and documentation for audits and internal reviews.
Does This Sound Like You:
Must Have:
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in a Human Resources or Talent Officer/Generalist role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of Ghana Labour Laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR Information Systems.
Nice to Have:
- Professional HR certification (e.g., IHRMP, CIPD).
- Experience working in a fast-paced or multi-country organization.
