About the role:

UpEnergy Ghana is at an exciting phase of growth and expansion. To strengthen our sales performance and build the capability of our distribution network, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and impact-driven Field Sales Trainer.

Reporting directly to the Head of Distribution, the Field Sales Trainer will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for all field-based sales staff, including Sales Agents, Team Leads, and Regional Distribution Supervisors. The role will focus on building product knowledge, sales techniques, communication skills, and compliance with UpEnergy’s sales processes and values.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, training, and adult learning methodologies, with proven experience developing field teams to achieve commercial excellence in fast-moving and mission-driven organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Training Program Development & Delivery

  • Design and implement comprehensive onboarding and continuous training programs for sales agents, team leads, and field supervisors.
  • Deliver engaging and practical field training sessions focusing on sales techniques, customer engagement, product knowledge, and territory management.
  • Customize training content to meet regional and agent-level needs, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market realities.

2. Field Coaching & Performance Support

  • Conduct regular field visits to observe sales interactions, provide on-the-job coaching, and reinforce key learning objectives.
  • Identify skill gaps and performance challenges across teams and design tailored interventions to address them.
  • Work closely with Regional Distribution Supervisors and Team Leads to strengthen field execution and drive consistent sales performance.

3. Training Content & Materials Development

  • Develop high-quality training materials, manuals, presentations, and e-learning content aligned with UpEnergy’s brand, products, and processes.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging and customer education materials.

4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Establish clear training metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of training programs and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain training records and produce monthly reports on training activities, attendance, and post-training performance impact.
  • Use data insights and feedback from the field to continuously improve training programs and materials.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Sales Operations Analyst to identify performance trends and training priorities based on data insights.
  • Work with HR and the Head of Distribution to ensure all new hires receive timely induction and sales training.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Distribution, Regional Managers, and Supply Chain team to ensure alignment of training content with overall business priorities and operational realities.

6. Pilots and Behavioral Studies

  • Lead and coordinate all product and behavioral pilot projects and studies in Ghana, serving as the main point of contact for these initiatives.

Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Education, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in field sales, training, or capacity-building roles, ideally within FMCG, renewable energy, or social enterprise sectors.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences in both classroom and field environments.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and evaluate sales training programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Strong data analytics skills with proficiency in analytical tools and CRM systems, including Spreadsheets, Salesforce, and Power BI.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across various regions in Ghana.

Nice to have:

  • Professional certification in Training, Coaching, or Learning & Development.
  • Experience working with rural sales teams or community-based distribution networks.
  • Fluency in multiple local languages.
