About the role:

UpEnergy Ghana is at a time of exciting growth, and rapid expansion, requiring a dynamic and results-driven Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations thereby supporting UpEnergy’s mission of expanding access to clean energy solutions across Ghana.

This role will be responsible for managing end-to-end supply chain activities, from procurement and production coordination to warehousing, distribution, logistics, and inventory management, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company standards.

The Supply Chain Manager will report directly to the Country Director, and work closely with country team/country leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with business goals, ensuring smooth coordination between procurement, production, warehousing, and distribution operations.
• Manage sourcing, vendor selection, and contract negotiations with suppliers and partners, ensuring high-quality inputs at competitive costs.
• Liaise closely with local manufacturing partners to ensure timely production of improved cookstoves and other products according to agreed schedules and quality standards.
• Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory control, storage optimization, and stock movement tracking, ensuring accuracy and minimal losses.
• Design and manage efficient distribution networks to deliver products to agents, distributors, and end-users across regions while optimizing cost and time.
• Work with sales, finance, and carbon teams to forecast product demand, align supply plans, and maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and manufacturing partners to ensure reliability and performance.
• Continuously assess supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies and introduce improvements that enhance speed, quality, and cost savings.
• Ensure all supply chain operations comply with company policies, safety, and environmental standards. Prepare and present regular performance and cost reports to the Country Head.
• Manage and mentor supply chain staff and logistics officers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, problem-solving, and operational excellence.

Does this sound like you?

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.

• 5–7 years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations roles, preferably in manufacturing, renewable energy, or FMCG sectors.

• Proven experience managing end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions.

• Solid understanding of inventory management systems, ERP tools, and supply chain software.

• Experience in vendor and contract management, including negotiations and performance monitoring.

• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and deliver under tight timelines.

• Sound understanding of local regulatory and import/export processes in Ghana.

• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice to have:

• A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CIPS, are a plus.
