Role Description: The Financial Analyst – Southern Africa Region is a full-time, on-site role based in the City of Cape Town, Lusaka, Zambia, or Luanda, Angola. This role is responsible for supporting regional financial planning and budgeting, preparing and analyzing financial reports, and monitoring the financial performance of projects and programs across the Southern Africa portfolio. The Financial Analyst will review and interpret financial statements, track expenditures against budgets, and provide insights to improve resource allocation and cost-effectiveness. The role involves collaboration with program managers and regional leadership to ensure compliance with internal policies and donor requirements, as well as assisting with monthly closings, forecasts, and financial risk assessments. The analyst will also contribute to process improvements, support audits, and maintain accurate financial records to enable informed decision-making in support of conservation priorities.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Finance, including experience with financial management in a nonprofit or multi-stakeholder environment.
• Proficiency in Financial Planning and budgeting, with the ability to develop, monitor, and adjust plans across multiple projects or regions.
• Ability to prepare, interpret, and analyze Financial Statements and Financial Reporting in accordance with relevant standards and organizational policies.
• Advanced Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are an advantage.
• Experience with financial software and Excel, including building models, forecasts, and dashboards.
• Strong attention to detail, integrity in handling financial data, and adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and cultures in the Southern Africa region.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
