What We Can Achieve Together:

By collaboratively updating and refining the Solomon Islands Hawksbill Turtle electronic database, this internship will convert decades of field records into a high‑quality, analysis‑ready digital asset that can support TNC’s long‑term monitoring, research, and decision‑making needs.

We’re Looking for You:

Student Intern perform and participates in collecting, digitizing, coding, analyzing, and presenting studies and project cases, with following responsibilities and scope:

  • Works under close supervision.
  • Dive into conservation data: Help update and refine the Solomon Islands’ Hawksbill electronic Turtle Database, ensuring critical information about this species is in a digital format, accurate and accessible for analysis
  • Turn numbers into insights: Apply business analytics to transform raw data into meaningful trends and strategies that support adaptive management and real-world conservation decisions.
  • Share the story of impact: Present your findings to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) staff, showcasing how data-driven insights can guide efforts to protect Hawksbill turtles and strengthen marine conservation initiatives.

The role is a 3-months fixed term to be based in Singapore. There is no sponsorship for relocation or support for immigration or visa processes.

What You’ll Bring:

• High school diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience

• Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (e.g. lawn mower, chainsaw, UTV, ATV or OHV, two-way radio, or similar equipment).

• Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. First Aid, CPR, herbicide or pesticide application).

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.

  • Ability to follow instructions from colleagues/coworkers/team members.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Reading comprehension, writing, and presentation in English

  • Basic statistical analysis

  • Basic geospatial analysis

  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis using statistical software such as R, STATA

  • Ability to conduct spatial mapping using GIS software

    AI & Machine Learning for

  • Data entry accuracy: Ability to input large volumes of data with a high level of accuracy and consistency. Careful checking of entries against source documents to minimize errors.

  • Data Efficiency: Ability to leverage artificial intelligence tools or machine learning to streamline and automate repetitive data input tasks.
