We’re Looking for You:

Equitable Conservation (EC), Chief Conservation Office (CCO)
Movements, Frameworks, and Outcomes (MFO)

YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

The Equitable Conservation (EC) team sits within The Nature Conservancy’s Chief Conservation Office (CCO) and advances the organization’s commitment to respecting Indigenous self‑determination; upholding human rights, gender equity, and social safeguards; and creating equitable pathways for communities to thrive alongside healthy ecosystems.

Within EC, the Movements, Frameworks, and Outcomes (MFO) sub‑team strengthens the connective tissue across people, strategies, and regions through network weaving, learning exchange, coordination across teams and strategies, creation of tools and resources, and support for evidence‑informed and adaptive ways of working.

The Regional Coordination Manager (RCM) reports to the Equitable Conservation Networks & Movements Director and plays a key role in strengthening coordination across EC’s regional engagements. The position supports alignment, visibility, and follow‑through while remaining grounded in values of equity, reciprocity, and right relationship.

YOUR ROLE

The Regional Coordination Manager oversees and facilitates coordination across Equitable Conservation’s portfolio of regional engagements, ensuring alignment with regional priorities and EC and TNC strategies.

The role serves as Project Lead for the Geography Support Grant (officially the “Voice, Choice, Action – Indigenous and Community Leadership in Conservation” grant; referred to in this document as the “VCA Grant”), supporting effective delivery, coordination, and integration across regions and teams.

This position is designed as a strategic connector, helping people, processes, and workstreams connect more clearly and consistently. The RCM focuses on coordination and integration rather than strategy ownership or decision authority, enabling regional teams and EC colleagues to work together more effectively.

SCOPE & COLLABORATION

Primary scope: Coordination of EC regional engagements, in close collaboration with MFO and other EC sub‑teams.
Cross‑team collaboration: Works with internal TNC teams (including regional programs, strategies, and operations partners) to support clear engagement pathways and consistent ways of working.
External engagement: Engages external partners as needed, typically alongside or in support of internal relationship owners and program leads.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Regional engagement coordination

  • Coordinate EC’s portfolio of regional engagements across geographies to support alignment, sequencing, and follow‑through.

  • Maintain shared tracking systems (e.g., workplans, timelines, dependencies) that improve visibility and reduce friction across teams.

  • Support day‑to‑day coordination to ensure commitments are realistic, well‑managed, and responsive to regional context.

2. VCA Grant leadership

  • Coordinate implementation with regional teams and internal partners as Project Lead for the VCA Grant.

  • Track milestones, deliverables, and timelines; support consolidation of results across the grant lifecycle.

  • Maintain clear documentation and reporting rhythms that support learning and accountability.

3. Ways of working and engagement guidelines

  • Co‑develop and maintain engagement guidelines that clarify roles, expectations, communication norms, and decision pathways for EC regional work.

  • Support practices that strengthen right‑relations, transparency, feedback loops, and adaptive learning.

  • Translate internal concepts (including Transformative Practices) into practical, accessible approaches that support inclusive planning and shared accountability.

4. Communications, learning, and visibility

  • Support clear communication and storytelling about regional engagement progress, lessons learned, and support needs.

  • Contribute to outcomes visibility by tracking progress against agreed indicators and supporting lightweight reporting and learning tools.

  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and work effectively across cultures, time zones, and organizational contexts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate complex work across multiple stakeholders using strong organization, facilitation, and follow‑through.

  • Convene and facilitate meetings and working sessions; document decisions, next steps, and dependencies.

  • Track budgets and forecasts for the VCA Grant and related engagements; consolidate inputs and flag risks or variances early, in partnership with program and finance leads.

  • Identify coordination gaps or capacity constraints and route issues appropriately for discussion and resolution.

  • Travel: Approximately 10–15%, depending on regional needs and grant timelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent lived and/or professional experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the role successfully.

  • At least 5 years of experience coordinating programs, projects, or partnerships across multiple stakeholders; global or regional experience strongly valued.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes with strong organization, communication, and follow‑through.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to synthesize information clearly for diverse audiences.

  • Experience working across cultures, functions, and time zones.

  • Comfort using coordination and project‑tracking tools and learning new systems quickly.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with rights‑based approaches, including human rights, gender equity, and Indigenous rights and sovereignty.

  • Familiarity with community‑based conservation and broader conservation practice.

  • Experience supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), including practical indicators and learning routines.

  • Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP) or equivalent applied experience.

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Smartsheet).

  • Additional language skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French, Indonesian, Chinese) and/or significant cross‑cultural lived experience.
