A member of TNC’s global People Team, the HR Director is a senior-level HR business partner who provides high level services and strategic direction in support of an inclusive culture of high performance where all people can thrive: talent management, organizational development, employee relations, risk management, and recruiting. They manage a team of HR professionals located in multiple locations and have overall responsibility for providing the full spectrum of integrated HR support to assigned client groups.
We’re Looking for You:
As a hands-on team leader and strategic Human Resources business partner for the Southern Division (comprised of the Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia Business Units), they drive, implement, operationalize, and follow through on all HR activities and relevant people initiatives across the division. Focusing on fostering an organizational culture of high performance, well-being, and belonging, they will play a crucial role in understanding business needs and developing change and talent management strategies to achieve outcomes that meet TNC’s organizational goals in support of its mission. Reporting to the Senior Director of HR for the North America Region and collaborating with colleagues across The People Team, the HR Director ensures a consistent approach in applying HR policies and practices across the Southern division. The HR Director will adapt and integrate global people strategies and lead a team of HR professionals focused across the HR spectrum of administrative, management, and strategic, to deliver comprehensive and robust HR services designed to create a fair and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities and Scope:
Serve as a change agent, strategic HR business partner, and resource to senior leadership and managers for all people and culture initiatives. Understand business needs and develop talent management strategies that support and advance organizational goals.
Lead, manage, and develop a team of HR professionals delivering comprehensive HR services and support across the full range of the employee life cycle from the tactical to strategic.
Ensure talent planning, succession planning, professional development, organizational design, and organizational development efforts are aligned with business needs and consistent with TNC’s overall strategic direction and approach.
Integrate, adapt, and contextualize global people strategies (talent, culture, diversity, inclusion, equity) to meet the unique needs of their client group.
Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Team and assigned recruiters to build a high-performing, diverse workforce.
Ensure access to effective recruitment support to attract and retain top talent.
Coach and develop the HR team to ensure a high level of service, team effectiveness, and alignment around HR strategy, to include addressing employee relations matters with empathy and clarity, and consistent with policy.
Build and model a culture of accountability, holding oneself and others accountable for their contributions.
Engage with Business Unit leaders and line managers to address complex employee relations issues and ensure compliance with TNC policies and relevant employment laws.
Partner and collaborate with leadership and teams across the division to foster a positive organizational culture, employee well-being and drive change management initiatives.
Ensure people strategies align with TNC’s efforts to promote TNC Values and a culture of belonging.
Create mechanisms for feedback loops to build trust, have transparent communication and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelors degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience as a leader in Human Resources.
Professional experience must encompass an HR generalist role to include all of the following: talent management, employee relations, training and development, organizational development, and recruiting.
Experience in strategic talent planning for a diverse, decentralized, geographically dispersed, and multicultural international organization.
Experience working with international programs in the HR arena.
Experience leading and managing a team of HR professionals
Experienced facilitator.
Experience with leading projects and coordinating the work of others.
Experience using MS Office software with experience in constructing and producing reports, presentations, data manipulation, and analysis.
Ability to travel up to 20%, both within the U.S. and internationally
Desired Qualifications:
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Advanced degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline.
SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent professional certification or license as required by local labor law.
Fluency in a foreign language to support a global program.
Experience in integrating and adapting global HR strategies to local contexts in a culturally competent way.
Experience in negotiating and dealing effectively, tactfully, and honestly.
Experience as a strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytical ability, and good judgment.
Experience in developing a working knowledge of relevant conservation issues.
Proficiency in personal computing skills and electronics communications.
Experience delivering engaging and effective presentations.
Experience building strong interpersonal relationships and providing outstanding client service.
Experience communicating clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with individuals at all organizational levels.
Experience working in a fast-paced, stressful, and highly visible environment.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Salary Information:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $139,000 - 162,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
