QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant work experience in construction management in lieu of formal qualification
- Qualified as a ELCONOP 2
- Construction Management Level 1
- Business etiquette Level 2
- Solar fundamentals - Intermediate
- AC fundamentals – Intermediate
- Quality control Level 2
- Hira & Legal Liability - Intermediate
- Practical training - Cable glanding
- Practical training - Conductor terminations
- Practical training - Basic string testing
- Practical training - Fault finding and repair
- Practical training - Solar PV Installer Level 2
- Grade 10 schooling
PREFFERRED SKILLS
- Effective communication skills
- Analytical ability and attention to detail
- Understanding of solar installations and solar construction methods
- Assistant Construction Manager (C.R. 8.2 Appointment)
- Construction Supervisor (C.R. 8.7 Appointment)
- Experience with Carports and Ground Mount solutions
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 24 Months traceable work experience as a ELCONOP 2
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performing the duties of a ELCONOP 2 (If Required)
- Ensure compliance to the responsibilities of all appointments
- Terminating DC conductors onto equipment and string tests
- Drawing wiring into wireways
- Overseeing one or more Solar Assistant(s) and/or ELCONOP 1 where required to perform the duties of a ELCONOP 2
Health and Safety
- Daily – ensure tool box talks by team leaders are done and signed by staff
- Ad-hoc - Provide HSE topics to for tool box talks
- Daily – ensure compliance to safety file including heat stress, fall arrest, waste management & housekeeping
- Report all incidents/accidents and near misses to the SHEQ Officer and construction management team before the end of the shift
- Ensure you have at least 1 x First Aider, 1 x Fire Fighter and SHE-rep on site
- Represent the business as a 18.1 representative
Performance Management
- Perform the duties as a ELCONOP1, ELCONOP2 as and when required
- Daily Plan of the day, set out work to be done with team and manage work efficiency of site teams
- Daily site access - ensure containers, stores, laydowns and roof access is opened and secured every day.
- Daily site inspection - walk the site & inspect for safety hazards before work can commence
- Weekly – attend construction meetings as required
- Monthly asset register - submit last Friday of the month by COB
- Daily - manage compliance to technical specifications
- Daily – set daily targets for Team Leaders (as per project schedule)
- Daily - submit a 1 day look ahead to the site management team
- Weekly - submit a 1 week look ahead to the site management team
- Ensure Site Daily Plan of the day, ensure team understand tasks and resource requirements for work to be done
- Clerk executes their duties per the job description
Quality Assurance and Control
- Manage quality – complete milestone checklists and present to construction management team during the project and at the end of the project.
Project Reporting
- Weekly by COB on a Friday –
- Send photos to the site management team per roof showing progress
- Send a completed progress report to the site management team
- Send a completed stock take report to the site management team
- Send a quality report to the site management team
- Weekly by 10am on a Monday – send the timesheets to the project administrator
