JOB TITLE: Tariff Specialist

MANAGER: Head of Metering and Projects

LOCATION: Cape Town/Johannesburg

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

We are a leading player in the renewable energy sector, as an EPC contractor and Independent Power Producer (IPP) enabling us to deliver innovative solutions to combat climate change. We are a focused solutions provider to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers, with projects spanning across Southern Africa and include roof top, carport, ground mount and wheeled solar projects. We also provide operations and maintenance, asset management, metering and monitoring services through our various divisions.

As we continue to expand our operations and our expertise in battery energy storage solutions (BESS) and maintain our status as the leading C&I IPP, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tariff Specialist to join our team.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Electricity and water tariff industry knowledge
  • Mastery of Tariff Analysis experience
  • Completed Energy Efficiency Course, either short course or part of university courses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updating tariffs and checking work before updating Copper.
  • Managing municipal queries for clients from Utilities and Engineering.
  • Manage the quoting through BD to generate revenue for the department.

Auditing:

  • Check and update existing tariffs.
  • Complete missing tariffs
  • Standardization of naming and design – including contacts
  • Removing of duplicate tariffs
  • Ensuring all tariff edits are audited.

PPA tariffs:

  • Own the workstream between Business Development (BD) and Legal to:
  • Ensure that tariffs in contracts are correct.
  • De-risk TFS by analysing the tariffs for any potential issues for increases.
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are in place between BD and Legal.
  • Review all first bills generated by TFS before they are sent to clients.
  • Own the information and documentation related to PPA tariffs that are to be used by all other departments in TFS (Engineering, Analytics, Software, Projects).
  • De-risk TFS from legacy contact errors by reviewing old contracts for tariff issues and making the teams aware (legal, BD, Engineering).
  • Maintain the database of PPA tariffs.
  • Assisting BD and Legal with client meetings, with or without them being present if necessary.
  • Using tariff analysis knowledge, mine customers for opportunities:
  • Create quotes and send to Finance for invoicing.
  • Communicate to Analytics and Utility on their clients to confirm tariffs of key clients/big users annually.
  • Assist software in improvements on tariff management systems
