Position overview
Tana has active upcoming Junior Developer opportunities for candidates with expertise and practical experience in Java, C++, .NET and Go.
- We welcome individuals who are eager to dedicate the next 2-3 years to this program to build the right skills and track record for global careers in tech & data.
- Our partners are US and European technology companies creating exciting products in finance, education, healthcare, telecommunications, enterprise software, logistics, and much more.
- Successful candidates will be trained and placed with one of our partner companies, initially for a 3-month Fellowship to learn the role and demonstrate what you can do. If you perform well, you will unlock long-term employment with your partner company.
- All Tana Fellows work from home, and are expected to have an appropriate laptop, phone, internet connection, stable power, and home office environment.
- Other roles that we offer include Junior QA Engineer, Junior Tech Support Engineer, Junior Data Analyst, Junior Data Engineer, Junior DevOps, and Junior Designer, and you’ll have a chance to indicate your preferred roles as part of the application. Please note these positions are geared towards early career graduates who are starting their career journeys.
Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Must have completed a university program or other educational program such as a well-regarded tech bootcamp. If you've completed coursework but are awaiting graduation, you may also apply.
- Strong foundation in Java, C++, .NET or Go (Go Lang).
- Best fit for people with 1-3 years of software development experience.
Application process
- Tana is a highly competitive program, and as such, requires a rigorous multi-stage application process. If your application is successful you will enter our Tana Talent Pool, from which you will be considered for full-time opportunities with our clients.
- Initial application: This initial application is expected to take about 3 hours to complete, as it contains self-learning and practical exercises.
- Technical skills assessments: If your application is successful, you'll be invited to complete a timed online test with short quizzes for any technical skills that you'd like to demonstrate.
- Screening interview: We'll invite you to a 30-minute video interview to get to know your interests and experiences better.
- Admission to Tana Talent Pool: At this point, you'll find out whether you have gained admission to the Tana Talent Pool. Being in the Talent Pool means that we'll actively consider you for upcoming opportunities. Every partner company looks for different profiles, so we will reach out if we see a potential fit for partner-specific assessments.
- Partner-specific assessments: This may include more in-depth technical assessments, more in-depth interviews with the Tana team, and direct interviews with our partner companies. Our partner companies are the ones who ultimately decide the individuals whom they want to work with.
- Admission to Tana Fellowship: If selected by a partner company, you will officially be hired and trained as a Tana Fellow in order to start this exciting adventure with us!
