Position Overview:

As a Software Developer Attachee, you will join a team committed to developing and enhancing software that interfaces with advanced agricultural technologies. This role is an exceptional opportunity to develop hands-on experience in a full-stack environment using a defined tech stack, contributing directly to projects that have a tangible impact on global agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

  • Develop front-end website architecture and user interactions using Jinja2, JavaScript, and React.
  • Design and build server-side logic using Python with the Flask framework.
  • Ensure cross-platform optimization for mobile devices and ensure responsiveness of applications.

Database and Server Management:

  • Implement and maintain database solutions with PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Manage cloud-based application deployment and operations on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Collaboration and Version Control:

  • Work within a team using GitHub for version control to manage and review code.
  • Use ClickUp for project management to track progress and collaborate on tasks effectively.

Testing and Deployment:

  • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure the application's performance and troubleshoot interface and integration issues.
  • Participate in the deployment process, ensuring efficient operation on AWS.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or have recently obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Jinja2, JavaScript, React, Python, and Flask.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and familiarity with AWS deployment.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and project management tools like ClickUp.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Passionate about leveraging technology for sustainable agricultural development.

Logistics:

  • This role is based at Bishop Magua Centre, Ngong Road, with potential field deployment.
  • Full-time hours from Monday to Friday.

Compensation:

  • A stipend of KES.15,000 per month.

Contract Period:

  • The attachment will last 3-6 months.
