About the Role

SunCulture specializes in solar power irrigation systems and has various products that support customers' needs. The Head of Tech Ops will lead our product managers in developing and commercializing life changing technology that solves the biggest daily challenges for the world's 570 million smallholder farming households.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a visionary Head of Technology Operations with a strong focus on observability and expertise in information security to lead our technical team. We prioritize reliability, performance, security, and observability in all aspects of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of observability strategies and practices to gain insights into the performance, reliability, and security of our systems.

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact operations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs) for our technology infrastructure and applications, with a particular emphasis on observability metrics.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights, optimizing system performance, and enhancing the end-user experience.

  • Champion a culture of transparency and accountability, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to relevant data and insights for informed decision-making.

  • Oversee the design and implementation of robust information security measures to protect sensitive data, systems, and assets.

  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead incident response and forensic investigations in the event of security breaches or incidents, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation of risks.

  • Stay current with emerging threats and vulnerabilities, evaluating and implementing appropriate security technologies and practices to mitigate risks.

Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven experience of 5 + years in leadership role focused on observability, information security, and technology operations.

  • Deep understanding of observability principles and practices, with hands-on experience implementing monitoring and logging solutions in complex environments.

  • Strong knowledge of information security principles, standards, and best practices, with experience implementing security controls and managing security incidents.

  • Proficiency with observability tools and technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and Splunk.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Relevant certifications in observability (e.g., AWS Certified Observability Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer), information security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+), or related areas are advantageous.
