About the role:
We are seeking a hands-on Regional Mentor to build and deliver product, process, sales, and technical training for our field agents and the Area Business Managers selling Solar Home Systems and Inverters across Sun King Markets. The role holder will be the bridge between HQ product strategy and frontline sales execution by ensuring every Energy Officer can demonstrate, pitch, install, do basic troubleshooting, and close effectively. The Regional Mentor owns agent capability development, content delivery, portfolio-quality coaching, and the feedback flow from the field to HQ, with measurable accountability for the Collection Score contribution and the weighted-unit productivity of agents in their zone.

What you would be expected to do:
- Steer the new Agent onboarding post Area Business Manager scout session and recruitment.
- Design and facilitate onboarding and refresher training programs for field Agents.
- Develop practical learning modules focused on Direct Sales, EasyBuy product Knowledge, Objection Handling, Collections Management, Customer Service, and Portfolio Health.
- Guide "train-the-trainer" programs for the Area Mentors and Cluster Leaders. Conduct field-based coaching and side-by-side mentorship sessions for the Agents at the cluster level to model best practices, pitches, and live demos as per Agent skill level.
- Train and coach agents on behaviors that drive early repayment and improve collection scores: customer screening, expectation setting, credible relationship-building, and follow-up payment.
- Localize training materials to zone-relevant languages, customer profiles, and market landscape.
- Update slide decks, playbooks, quick-reference guides, and demo scripts as per changes/New products, processes, and pricing.
- Create short video tutorials and WhatsApp-ready microlearning content for remote teams and just-in-time learning for the field team
- Mentor Agents to achieve monthly sales productivity targets
- Develop performance improvement plans for underperforming agents
- Facilitate roleplays, field simulations, and practical demonstrations.
- Work with regional teams to improve conversion rates and activation quality.
- Train Agents on portfolio risk management and repayment behavior monitoring
- Build capacity around collections discipline, delinquency reduction, customer follow-up, and recovery processes.
- Coach Agents on balancing strong sales growth with healthy portfolio quality.
- Monitor repayment trends and identify learning gaps affecting collections performance.
- Build agents' comprehension of the repossession process and customer recovery protocols, with emphasis on dignity and community reputation
- Equip Agents with strong engagement and complaint-resolution skills. Train teams on creating a positive customer experience throughout the Easy Buy lifecycle.
- Contribute to customer retention initiatives through service quality improvement alongside the After-Sales Teams.
- Advocate for ethical selling and responsible customer onboarding practices.
- Track training effectiveness using KPIs and operational performance metrics. Interpret and act on reports covering Sales Productivity, Repayment Performance, Customer Retention, and Agent Attrition Trends.
- Prepare training impact reports for the Regional Sales teams. Recommend interventions based on field performance insights.
You might be a strong candidate if you:
- Possess either 2+ years in Learning & Development, Sales Training, or Field Coaching in solar, electronics, telecoms, or FMCG;
- Have 3+ years selling these products with a track record of mentoring or training peers. Strong candidates often have a blend of both.
- Possess strong technical grasp of Solar Home Systems, inverters, batteries, and basic electrical concepts
- Demonstrate proven sales background, you've carried a target, and can teach others how to sell
- Have experience training non-technical audiences: agents, dealers, micro-entrepreneurs.
- Are willing to travel 80%+ across the region for hands-on and face-to-face training sessions
- Are fluent in English + [relevant local languages, e.g. Kiswahili, Meru, Somali]
- Demonstrate comprehension of graphic design, video editing, or the ability to use advanced content authoring tools are advantages.
- Are able to deliver engaging training using adult learning methods. Manages group dynamics, energy, and effective knowledge transfer.
- Can design practical, field-based learning content. Uses tools such as Articulate, Captivate, H5P, PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Canva. Builds sales, product knowledge, and portfolio management capability.
- Are able to provide performance coaching to improve outcomes. Uses sales and field data to guide training focus. Applies practical tools like WhatsApp Business, LMS platforms, and operational apps.
