About the role:
The role holder will be in charge of maintaining and assisting Sun King’s IT infrastructure at our Assembly warehouse in Nairobi. This role involves providing user assistance, delivering IT training, and managing endpoint hardware and software across East and Southern Africa. This position requires a broad technical skillset, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work alone and with at a team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT & surveillance security, telephony systems, access control, network configuration, and systems assistance for manufacturing execution systems (MES).

What you would be expected to do:
- Maintain and troubleshoot network systems (LAN & WAN), servers, and data storage solutions.
- Configure and manage network hardware, with experience in Mikrotik and Cisco technologies being a significant advantage.
- Ensure network security and data integrity.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements as needed.
- Provide technical assistance to staff, primarily at the assembly warehouse and across East and Southern Africa, addressing hardware and software issues.
- Resolve technical problems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Document service requests and resolutions.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT systems, data, and physical assets through surveillance systems.
- Manage and assist IT-based surveillance security systems.
- Monitor for security threats and act on any observed or prevailing incidents.
- Manage and assist IT access control systems, including biometric technology.
- Manage and maintain endpoint devices (laptops, desktops, mobile devices).
- Install, configure, and update software applications.
- Perform hardware repairs and upgrades as needed.
- Provide primary assistance for the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solution used in the assembly warehouse.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the MES to ensure smooth assembly operations.
- Work with the operations team to optimize and maintain the MES.
- Manage and maintain telephony and VoIP systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to call center and general telephony operations.
- Assist in the procurement of IT hardware, software, and services.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
- Develop and deliver IT training programs for employees.
- Create training materials and documentation.
- Provide ongoing guidance to users on IT systems and software.
- Work closely with the assembly warehouse management and other departments to ensure IT needs are met.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Be available outside of normal working hours to address critical IT issues.
You might be a strong candidate if you:
- Hold a bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrate minimum of five years of experience in an IT role, preferably within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Possess certification in Mikrotik (MTCNA) and/or Cisco (CCNA) will be a significant added advantage.
- Strong background in IT security, surveillance systems, access control technology, and computer networking (LAN & WAN).
- Are experienced in assisting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate proficiency in various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Possess excellent communication skills in both English and Swahili (written and spoken).
- Have a positive attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate willingness to work after hours in case of emergencies.
