The team you would join:
Sun King leverages two distinct channels to bring its solar home energy solutions to millions of customers around the world: an in-house pay-as-you-go (PAYG) direct to consumer network in twelve countries and a broader network of distribution partners in 30 markets across Africa and Asia.

The Partnerships Sales team seeks, establishes, and manages long term partnerships with a range of existing distribution businesses across sub-Saharan Africa, South- and Southeast Asia.

About the role:
The Partnership Associate at Sun King will achieve and exceed search for sales prospects. He/she will develop sales opportunities by prospecting, soliciting and identifying potential accounts and funnel prospects that have been qualified and expressed interest to proceed with conversation to respective partnership managers.

What you would be expected to do:

  • Manage the partnership with the existing partner’s in Mozambique and Angola.
  • Identify opportunities within the two countries.
  • Manage and grow the value of current partner’s.
  • Search and build up potential prospects.
  • Identify channels Sun King can penetrate.
  • Establish a personal rapport with prospects that express interest in working with Sun King.
  • Provide product and technical information to potential prospects.
  • Prepare monthly reports as directed by the line manager.
  • Translate marketing materials and correspondence from partners.
  • Accompany partnerships manager’s to market visits in countries under focus.

You might be a strong candidate if you:

  • A Diploma or Higher in Electrical & Electronics, or business-related course with professional qualifications in sales and marketing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in business development.
  • A proven track record in sales & marketing.
  • A clear geographical knowledge of the region will be an added advantage.
  • Business Management skills with ability to organize, schedule, prioritize and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese.

Instead of paying for expensive, polluting, and health-damaging kerosene for lighting or diesel for power, customers unlock savings through accessing solar power and after one to two years of payments, customers own their solar equipment outright. Sun King collects payments digitally through mobile money systems and its 28,000 field agents — over 650,000 payments each day. Embedded electronics inside each Sun King device regulate usage based on payments, similar to the operation of a pre-paid mobile or electricity meter.
From cost-effective solar systems that provide home lighting and phone charging to robust solar inverters that can power high-energy appliances such as laptops, computers, refrigerators, and more, effectively acting as a full stand-in for grid power, Sun King’s products cater to a wide range of income segments and energy needs. Leveraging its proven distribution network and brand, Sun King is expanding its range of products and services to encompass clean cooking, electric mobility, entertainment, and more, aiming to address the needs of our underserved customers.
