Job Purpose
The Deputy Plant Manager is responsible for daily execution and operational control of all plant functions. The role supports the Plant Manager in achieving production, quality, cost, safety, and delivery targets while ensuring adherence to established processes, systems, and KPIs.
The Deputy Plant Manager acts as the operational coordinator across Production, Quality, Maintenance, PPC, Stores, Dispatch, HR, and EHS functions and serves as the primary driver of daily performance reviews and corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily plant operations across Production, Quality, Maintenance, PPC, Stores, Dispatch, HR and EHS.
- Monitor and drive key plant KPIs including Production Plan vs Actual, OEE, Line Efficiency, Quality, Downtime, Inventory, Dispatch and Safety.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, process compliance and equipment availability.
- Drive productivity, cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and TPM.
- Coordinate material availability, inventory control, warehouse performance and dispatch execution.
- Ensure EHS compliance, safety audits and effective closure of incidents and corrective actions.
- Lead and develop cross-functional teams, ensuring accountability, discipline and performance.
- Support new model launches, process improvements and digital manufacturing initiatives.
- Act as Plant Head during the Plant Manager’s absence, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making.
- Drive effective use of SAP ERP/S4HANA, particularly PP, MM, QM, PM and WM/EWM, for production, inventory, quality and maintenance management.
Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience in Automotive, EV, Two-Wheeler or Manufacturing.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing cross-functional manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, KPI management, problem-solving, TPM and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience with SAP ERP/S4HANA and manufacturing modules.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
- Data-driven, hands-on and results-oriented approach with strong shop-floor presence.
