Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Data Management & Data Governance Lead
to build and drive the enterprise-wide data governance and data quality strategy at Spiro. This role is central to ensuring trusted data, improving regulatory compliance, and supporting informed decision-making across our organization. You will work at the intersection of business, technology, and compliance to implement best-in-class practices in data stewardship, quality, and master data management across domains such as banking, financial services, and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Governance & Stewardship
-Establish, implement, and maintain enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
-Collaborate with business leads, data stewards, and platform owners to define data ownership, stewardship models, and operating procedures.
-Build and maintain business glossaries, metadata repositories, and data dictionaries.
-Lead data classification and data lineage documentation initiatives across the enterprise.
2. Data Quality & Controls
-Define and implement data quality rules, metrics, and thresholds using tools like Ataccama and Power BI.
-Monitor and report data quality dashboards across master domains (Customer, Geo, Vendor, Vessel, Facility, etc.).
-Lead Data Quality Issue Management processes, including root cause analysis, remediation, and escalation workflows.
-Conduct deduplication, profiling, and validation activities to enhance data integrity.
3. Master & Reference Data Management
-Develop and maintain a robust MDM strategy in collaboration with business owners and SAP MDG teams.
-Design and evolve matching rules, data hierarchies, and validation logic for critical domains.
Partner with strategic vendors for MDM-related requirements and implementations.
4. Risk, Compliance & Data Privacy
-Align data governance efforts with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, BCBS 239, CECL, CCAR, FRB Schedules, and Basel norms.
-Define and enforce data retention, access control, and responsible data usage policies.
Collaborate with Risk, Legal, and Data Privacy teams on audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
5. Data Lineage & Cataloging
-Lead the implementation of enterprise data cataloging and metadata management tools.
-Develop conceptual and technical lineage mapping from source to consumption layers.
-Drive awareness and education on lineage tools and metadata practices.
6. Platform Implementation & Process Excellence
-Drive the transition and integration from legacy data profiling platforms (e.g., IBM Information Analyzer) to modern tools like Ataccama.
-Create technical models, business entities, and exception handling workflows.
-Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across data pipelines and quality controls.
Required Skills & Experience
-8+ years of industry experience in data governance, master data management, and data quality roles within Banking, Financial Services, or Supply Chain sectors.
-Proven hands-on experience with Ataccama, Power BI, SAP MDG, and metadata/lineage tools.
-Strong knowledge of data lifecycle management, data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, timeliness, etc.), and DQ rule development.
-In-depth understanding of regulatory data requirements such as GDPR, DPDP, BCBS 239, CCAR, CECL, SEC, and FRY.
-Expertise in stakeholder engagement and the ability to work with cross-functional teams (business, risk, IT, compliance).
Nice to Have
-Experience with data governance tools like Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or AWS Glue.
-Familiarity with cloud-based data architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
-Certification in Data Management, Data Governance, or Privacy (e.g., DCAM, CDMP, CIPP).
