Job Summary
In this role, you will support the European Projects team by researching and analyzing the potential for emission reduction projects to be developed in the Voluntary Carbon Market or under the Swiss Compliance Scheme. You will support South Pole through the various stages of project development, including analyzing project and lead potential, developing and managing feasibility studies, carbon projects and methodologies, and business development activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities
- Lead the assessment and review of incoming leads for emission reduction and carbon removal projects. Project topics include but are not limited to plastics and metals recycling, wastewater treatment, soil organic carbon, biochar, precision agriculture, feed additives, manure management, landfill gas, biogas, timber construction, transport electrification, carbon capture and storage and energy efficiency
- Conduct the feasibility and eligibility assessment of emission reduction and removals projects for their certification and registration with one or several international carbon standards (VCS, Gold Standard etc.). This may include the analysis of risks and opportunities for project implementers in engaging in the Voluntary Carbon Market
- Lead the development and management of carbon projects with international carbon standards (e.g. VCS, Gold Standard) and with the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment
- Implement and manage emission reduction and carbon removal projects in Europe. Responsibilities include drafting project design documents, applying emissions quantification methodologies, managing feedback from validation bodies, and supporting the implementation of monitoring plans and verification processes.
- Support business development efforts by leading proposal development for new clients and maintaining relationships with project partners, cooperatives, and auditors.
- Conduct market research on emerging sustainability topics and assist with project sourcing by identifying new opportunities and potential partners.
Profile requirements
- Master degree in Science, Engineering or a sustainability-related discipline
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience (incl. internships)
- Proficiency in English and German is required, French is preferred
- Excellent analytical competency
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment with a can-do attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Passionate to contribute to the fight against climate change
- Experience with project management and client communication are an advantage
