Sales Associate, Certificates

South Pole is a leading carbon project expert and climate consultancy, we advise project partners and developers in designing, registering and monitoring their carbon credit programs.

Our Certificates Sales team is responsible for proactively and independently expanding South Poles certificates business in line with the new VCM requirements by acquiring new clients and maintaining relationships with existing clients. Working closely with the upstream project teams, the team is trained and equipped to sell a wide range of certificates solutions, to investable projects and funds.

Job summary:

The Certificate Sales Associate is critical to supporting South Pole’s growth and market position in North America. You’ll support our team to help corporate clients navigate the carbon markets, match our carbon solutions with their needs, and help them progress on their climate journey.

To be successful in this role, need to understand clients’ needs and develop tailor-made solutions in collaboration with senior team members.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Engage in business development activities
  • Own and execute the lead generation process
  • Support in proposal development
  • Support the development and execution of sales strategies in close cooperation with business development (BDM) and key account managers (KAM) to qualify the market and build and maintain a sales pipeline for a large suite of products such as fund solutions, long term offtakes and investments in projects in addition to CAC and
  • EAC spot deals and CAC advisory.
  • Build and manage your own book of business
  • Participate in training sessions to build up required skills set to sell and advise clients on a broad range of solutions and support BD and KA managers
  • Share experience and knowledge across teams and across the regions
  • Identify opportunities for cross selling within certificate solutions (CAC<>EACs) as well as advisory solutions by actively handing over those opportunities to your fellow
  • Advisory Sales team members or the consultants. You will be incentivized to do so but having a cross selling kicker embedded into the STI scheme.


Essential -

  • University degree in Sustainability and/or Business related discipline
  • Relevant knowledge of the carbon market, corporate sustainability, climate change etc. and willingness to deepen quickly and proactively a sound understanding of the business drivers behind corporate climate action and related corporate challenges and the ability to formulate a business case
  • At least one year business experience in the field of sustainability, corporate responsibility, climate change or renewable energy and in a sales role
  • Ability to execute on sales guidance and individual sales targets successfully and independently, proactively engaging with senior colleagues when seeking for support or guidance.
  • Ability to conduct briefings with senior leaders on client performance and assigned tasks proactively and in an efficient manner.
  • Good prioritization and time management skills
  • Autonomous yet collaborative approach to work
  • Excellent local native and English skills, any other languages is a plus
  • National, or holder of a valid required work visa
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative

Desirable -

  • System affinity for salesforce solutions
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • First Account Management experience
  • Distinct analytical and conceptual abilities, the know-how of relevant sales software (CRM) and techniques
