Your mission at Sistema.bio:
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer and maintaining a strategic line of communication with the CEO, the Senior Environmental & Social Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive E&S Management System across all operational regions at Sistema.bio.
This role ensures robust E&S risk identification, impact mitigation, operational safety, and compliance with both international standards (IFC Performance Standards, World Bank EHS Guidelines) and local regulations. With a strong focus on manufacturing, product lifecycle, installations, field operations, and supply chains, this role plays a critical function in protecting people, the environment, and the company’s reputation.
The Senior E&S Manager will lead cross-functional efforts to embed environmental and social best practices into all aspects of the company’s operations.
You’ll be in charge of:
- E&S Management System (ESMS): Lead the management and the continuous improvement of a global Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) aligned with IFC and ISO standards across all operational regions.
- E&S Risk Assessment and Impact Management: Continuously manage and update E&S risk and impact assessments across sites and processes, ensuring effective mitigation measures, regular monitoring, and ongoing compliance with international standards.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Ensure robust HSE systems and protocols are in place across field and manufacturing operations, driving compliance and continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting: Oversee internal monitoring systems and reporting frameworks to track E&S performance, incident management, and operational improvements.
- Product and Manufacturing Integration: Collaborate with product and manufacturing teams to integrate environmental and safety considerations into design, production, and lifecycle processes.
- Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Response: Lead the development and implementation of emergency response plans and training to ensure readiness across all facilities and teams.
- Standards Compliance and Audit Readiness: Ensure full regulatory and compliance by leading audits, due diligence processes, and timely resolution of findings.
More about YOU:
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in Environmental and Social management, with extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, and overseeing operations across multiple countries ideally in emerging markets.
- Proven expertise in applying global E&S standards (e.g., IFC PS, World Bank EHS Guidelines, ISO standards).
- In-depth knowledge of E&S management topics, with the ability to lead a company-wide ESMS, including health & safety, environmental management and impact monitoring.
- Exceptional collaboration skills, with experience across cross-functional teams, investors, and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work with technical experts to develop and implement an ESMS aligned with international standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and operational pragmatism.
- Ability to influence and guide decision-making at the senior management level.
- Fluency in English required; Spanish and/or Hindi or Swahili is a plus.
- Ability to travel regularly to our regional offices and field locations where we operate.

- This is a full-time position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The role involves approximately 10–15% travel to our regional offices and field sites.
- Start date: July 2026.
