As Customer Order Engineer, you will work on a global engineering team designing and manufacturing world-class turbo generators. Based at the Siemens Energy Hub in Charlotte, NC, you will utilize your engineering, systems, process, and communication skills to facilitate the production of large electric generators for global power generation. You will contribute to the development and optimization of existing technologies and methods supporting decarbonization and decentralized energy supply.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Support the execution of customer requirements for both new apparatus and service orders for large electric generators.
• Develop detailed design assessments and release engineering information to support the manufacture and service repair of generator rotors, stators, exciters, and collector products.
• Create and upgrade design specifications and initiate revisions to existing products.
• Support manufacturing through technical guidance, troubleshooting, collaborative problem solving, disposition of product deviations, process reviews, and execution of design improvements.
• Perform calculations, prepare computer programs, write material and process specifications, assist in conducting floor and laboratory tests, and review and approve engineering drawings.
• Provide technical support for negotiations of new and service orders, including travel to customer sites, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities to resolve technical issues.
• Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel through clear verbal and written instructions, specifications, reports, and presentations.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required; MSME preferred.
• 2 to 5 years of successful experience in a related engineering field, with demonstrated success in the responsibilities and technical knowledge outlined above.
• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering principles, with experience in rotating electric machines and the ability to apply those concepts in the execution of orders for large electric generators.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and 2D/3D CAD software; experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and SAP is preferred.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations, evaluate technical issues, and support the design, manufacture, and service of large generator components.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to travel for collaboration with international teams and partners (less than 10%).
• Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
