As a Global Commodity Manager, you will be part of corporate Global Strategic Procurement team (SE P DM), responsible for commodity strategy of “Protection & Electric Components”. This field consists of Protection relays and a field of Electric Components like Low and Medium Voltage Circuit breakers and switching devices, Low-Voltage Molded-Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB), LV-connectors scope and many in our SE business.

Typical day for Global Commodity Management professional includes define/execution of commodity strategies, negotiation with suppliers, supplier relationship management, reporting, problem solving, supply chain risk mitigation as well as alignment meetings with internal/external x-functional team.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• The successful candidate will be the Global Strategic Lead for the Power Management Commodity Specific responsibilities include:
• Manage external relationships to OEMs and distributors and internal stakeholders (commodity mgmt., R&D, Engineering, Supplier Quality Development
• Derive an appropriate commodity strategy, align and execute with business partners
• Develop and implement material productivity measures to achieve the maximum contribution to the targets.
• Manage suppliers through Supplier Relationship Management and contracting. Be responsible for supplier selection and development. Provide market expertise and risk & opportunity insights to Siemens Energy
• Apply systems thinking to understand Siemens Energy offerings and the influence of the commodity on Siemens Energy market approach

What You Bring

• University degree in a technical or business-related field
• Several years of experience and market knowledge in procurement and commodity management and market knowledge of electric products or systems like this commodity or switchgear or substation automation
• Capability to negotiate and to operate in different cultures
• Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills
• Build up and managing multi-tier supply chains
• Knowledge of contract law and export control
• Excellent English language skills, German language skills desirable
• Position is posted for China or India, but other countries can be discussed
• Travel percentage ~20%

The SE P DM organization is responsible for managing 3rd party spend as well as developing procurement strategies of direct material fields that will allow Siemens Energy to maintain competitive position in marketplace and support company’s vision to become the most valued energy technology company

Our professional procurement team utilizes modern tools and processes to develop global sourcing strategy for assigned commodities, that delivers optimal supply cost, quality, on time delivery, ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) compliant and VUCA resilient supply chain for Business Unit to improve competitive advantage for Siemens Energy
