Commercial Project Manager at Siemens Energy
This role is a replacement to ensure business continuity for the Africa finance team, supporting the Industrial Steam Turbines & Generators business in Ivory Coast remotely from Morocco or South Africa. The position is critical for maintaining accurate commercial and financial oversight of projects within the region. To meet this objective, the role is structured around three core areas: detailed project cost estimation, comprehensive commercial and financial control, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination. This framework ensures that all project phases, from bidding to execution, are financially sound and aligned with business targets. Given the focus on financial analysis and project control, the ideal candidate will possess proven experience in cost estimation and budgeting within an industrial or engineering context. This Experienced Professional will work independently to manage difficult, but not complex, financial challenges, ensuring project profitability and compliance.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Collaborate with cost controllers to monitor project costs against budget and produce preliminary cost forecasts.
- Evaluate the financial impact of scope changes, contract variations, and cost trends throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project-related financial documentation, including supporting the invoicing process.
- Supports the Project Manager in managing and optimizing targeted financial results with due professional care
- You have full responsibility for all commercial/finance-related matters, including but not limited to handling Accounting, Legal, Tax, Foreign Exchange, guarantees
- Ensures accurate methodology for identifying, evaluating, assessing risks & opportunities, strategies, and mitigation activities.
- Ensures the accuracy of cost and pricing calculation as well as overall project financials, incl. recording of such in appropriate systems, e.g., SAP.
- You ensure compliance with IFRS15, local GAAP requirements, reporting guidelines, and internal controls.
- Identifies, minimizes non-conformance costs, and establishes an appropriate reporting structure; supports the implementation of lessons learned into own project and the organization in general
- Responsible for monthly revenue recognition and contractual invoicing
- Commercial support during Sales Phase, Account receivables & payables management
- Assisting Controlling and Reporting related tasks, i.e. for forecasting and budgeting
- Liaise with planning, scheduling, and project management teams to provide necessary cost data and inputs.
- Prepare and maintain detailed service and cost reports for all project activities.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on commercial and financial matters.
- Customer, result and quality orientation and motivation, as well as personal initiative
What You Bring
· Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in project cost controlling, project reporting, commercial management or a similar role preferably within the energy, industrial, or construction sectors
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications and SAP
- Experience working independently on moderately complex financial and commercial tasks.
