A Snapshot of Your Day

Commercial Project Manager at Siemens Energy

This role is being created to address the growing number of projects within the MGT portfolio in Africa, requiring dedicated local oversight. The primary business aim is to secure complex onshore project activities by providing a local Commercial Project Manager to ensure financial control and contract management. To achieve this, the role is structured around three core areas: comprehensive commercial project execution and control, proactive risk and contract management, and diligent stakeholder communication and reporting. This framework ensures the role functions as a '4-eye' principle counterpart to the Project Manager, safeguarding project profitability and compliance. Given the focus on financial governance and complex project execution, the ideal candidate will be a Specialist Professional with significant experience in commercial project management.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manage all commercial and financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, to ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Serve as the primary commercial counterpart ('4-eye' principle) to the Project Manager, ensuring project execution aligns with contractual obligations and internal governance processes.
  • Oversee project invoicing, cash flow management, and financial reporting in accordance with project milestones and contractual terms.
  • Analyse and manage project scope changes, evaluating their impact on cost, schedule, and contract value to protect project margins.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage project-related risks and opportunities, developing and implementing mitigation and realization strategies.
  • Ensure all contractual commitments are fulfilled, managing claims, variations, and change orders in collaboration with legal and project teams.
  • Support subcontracting and purchasing processes for onshore activities, ensuring commercially sound agreements are established and managed effectively.
  • Maintain close liaison with Project Managers, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear and consistent communication on all commercial matters.
  • Prepare and present regular, accurate project financial status reports, forecasts, and performance analyses to management.
  • Ensure all commercial project documentation, including financial records, contractual correspondence, and change orders, is meticulously maintained.

What You Bring

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive professional experience in commercial project management or project controlling, typically 8+ years.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects, particularly with significant onshore activities in the African region.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting, Risk Management, Invoicing, Change Management, Project Controlling, Tax
  • Contract Management, Project Scoping, Project Documentation, Workflow Management and Subcontracting
