SAICA Trainee at Siemens Energy

The CA Trainee Programme at Siemens Energy is a three-year Learnership Programme for Candidates who have completed an accredited post-graduate qualification in Accounting (PGDip/CTA)

Based in Accounting & Controlling. The trainee will be trained and assessed in line with the SAICA CA2025 framework which focuses on developing ethical values and professional competence integration between technical and professional skills. Rotation in various functions in the hub such as tax, risk and internal audit, controlling and commercial business units. The rotation will be tailored to meet the individual’s training needs while meeting requirements of both SAICA as well as those of the business and ensuring that trainees are exposed to a healthy balance of theoretical & practical aspects of management including depth & breadth across disciplines.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Plans, prepares, and consolidates balance sheet and P&L statements and reports, according to relevant accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP, local standard etc)
  • Prepares reports for division or support function management
  • Analyse and evaluate assets and liabilities
  • Prepares various entities and branches annual financial statements
  • Co-operates with vendors, clients in reconciling the account status, on an accountable level
  • Keeps abreast with changes of internal guidelines and external accounting standards, and prepares and presents training
  • Review and update published guidelines relevant to the Company
  • Issue and implement new accounting guidelines
  • Investigates project and other adhoc queries from the divisions and support functions
  • Plan and prepare budgets and forecast for corporate units
  • Capture budget and forecast into Spiridon and ESPRIT
  • Prepare technical accounting papers for complex transactions and IFRS interpretations
  • Provide support to colleagues in the other African countries
  • Provide support to corporate units with respect to specialised reporting required by Head Quarter such as ADSTAR reporting
  • Proactively understand and implement Support Function and Financial Reporting Guideline requirements
  • Ensures that all SAICA learning requirements technically and professionally are met with in the relevant time period.

  • Completed BCom Accounting Honours (CTA) or equivalent
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Results driven individual with strong problem-solving skills
