As an Application Engineer Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the bidding and execution of Service projects across Canada. Acting as the technical interface between customers, field teams, and internal Siemens Energy stakeholders, you will translate customer requirements into reliable engineering solutions, ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise in high-voltage equipment and service applications will help drive successful project outcomes while contributing to Siemens Energy's mission of enabling a more sustainable, digitalized, and resilient energy future.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Evaluate customer technical specifications and requirements, translating them into effective and tailored engineering solutions.
- Define project Scope of Work (SoW) and develop technical documentation to support service project execution and tendering activities.
- Produce, review, and validate engineering drawings, schematics, and technical deliverables in accordance with project and customer requirements.
- Provide technical expert support to Field Service Technicians during installations, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, retrofits, and other service activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to customize service solutions for specific customer operating conditions and business needs.
- Support pre-sales and tendering teams by providing technical expertise, risk assessments, and proposal inputs that contribute to winning and successfully delivering service projects.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage assets, including Power Transformers, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, HVDC systems, FACTS, and associated substation equipment.
- Proven experience in field service activities such as installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and retrofit projects.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, technical calculations, and engineering tools used in service project environments.
- Experience with data-driven diagnostics, condition assessment methodologies, and analytical problem-solving approaches.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical requirements and develop practical, customer-focused solutions.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities in dynamic project environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a customer-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work effectively within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluent English communication skills; additional languages such as French or German are considered an advantage.
