A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Blade Design Specialist within the Aeroderivative Gas Turbines Core Development team, you will play a pivotal role in managing design concession requests from key suppliers while ensuring the integrity and manufacturability of gas turbine components. Your expertise in advanced blade design and analysis, coupled with your ability to liaise with suppliers, will drive continuous improvement in design processes and standards, ultimately contributing to our vision of delivering high-quality, innovative energy solutions.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead the creation and modification of complex 3D models and engineering drawings for gas turbine blades using advanced CAD/CAE software.
  • Perform expert-level analysis, including tolerance stack-ups and thermal simulations, to validate design integrity and performance.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for UK-US suppliers, resolving complex engineering queries related to blade design.
  • Evaluate and disposition supplier design concession requests, conducting root cause analysis to ensure product safety and performance.
  • Develop and refine operational plans and design standards for the blade component lifecycle, championing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers and designers, sharing expert knowledge in blade design and best practices for supplier collaboration.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with 10+ years of experience in gas turbine or turbomachinery design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification.
  • Proven experience in managing supplier technical relationships and handling design concessions.
  • Proficiency in advanced CAD/CAE software and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and geometric tolerancing.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
About the Team
Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
