About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
Join our dynamic team at Siemens Energy, where you will play a crucial role in the mechanical design of core and clamping assemblies for power transformers. Imagine using your expertise to innovate and optimize designs while adhering to our quality standards and timelines. You will engage with electrical design outputs, support manufacturing processes, and collaborate on R&D projects to enhance our products. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency and reliability of our power transformers, making a significant impact in the energy sector.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- You will understand electrical design outputs and perform mechanical design, development, and analysis of core and clamping assemblies.
- Support manufacturing processes by conducting quality inspections, failure analysis, and managing vendor development.
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software to model designs and create engineering drawings, ensuring accurate bills of material for component ordering.
- Prepare core cutting lists for the precise cutting and slitting of cores tailored to individual designs.
- Learn transformer design rules and utilize design calculation tools related to core and clamping.
- Collaborate on R&D projects to drive product improvements and perform advanced calculations, including structural analysis using tools like ANSYS and CREO simulate.
What You Bring
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience as a core and clamping or active part design engineer. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa. Candidates with power transformers experience will be given preference.
- You possess strong conceptual knowledge and hands-on experience with structural steel parts, insulation parts, and core grades.
- Familiarity with American and international standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI, IEC) related to transformers and materials is essential.
- You are proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., CREO/PROe/Inventor), PDM Link or Teamcenter, and 2D CAD (e.g., AutoCAD), along with tools for creating bills of materials like SAP.
- You have detailed knowledge of materials related to core and clamp, including structural steel, high tensile steel, GOES, laminated wood, and pressboard.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
