As part of the Grid Automation Portfolio Development team, you will define the software architecture behind critical grid control solutions that support the Internet of Energy. Your work will influence products and technologies that enable reliable, secure, and intelligent power systems worldwide. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Define and own the software architecture for grid control system solutions across backend, frontend, data, and deployment layers.
- Design scalable, secure, and highly available architectures for real-time operations on Linux-based platforms, including virtualized and containerized environments.
- Establish architecture principles, technology standards, and reference models while ensuring their consistent adoption across development teams.
- Lead decisions on integrating control system software with enterprise applications and third-party platforms, governing interfaces and data models.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and platform options, driving proof-of-concepts and providing make, buy, or partner recommendations.
- Mentor development teams through architecture reviews, technical documentation, security-by-design practices, and technical decision records aligned with IEC 62443.
What You Bring
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline combined with extensive experience in software architecture and development.
- Proven track record in designing distributed, high-availability, and real-time or near-real-time systems within industrial, enterprise, or mission-critical environments.
- Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems, including networking, system-level design, virtualization technologies, and security hardening practices.
- Strong background in enterprise architectures covering SQL/NoSQL and time-series databases, message-oriented middleware, microservices, and API design.
- Hands-on programming experience in C++, Java, or C#, with the ability to prototype solutions and conduct senior-level code reviews.
- Solid understanding of OT cybersecurity principles, secure development lifecycles, and ideally energy automation standards such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, CIM/IEC 61968/61970, and OPC UA, combined with fluent English communication skills; German is an advantage.
