About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Senior Commercial Project Manager in Offshore Wind, you will take commercial ownership of large-scale customer projects and help drive them successfully from execution through to final acceptance. You will act as a project entrepreneur, ensuring that complex international projects are delivered in line with Project Excellence standards, customer requirements, Financial Reporting Guidelines, and applicable legal and tax guidance.
Your day could include aligning with the Project Manager and project team on financial performance, reviewing project books and records, preparing commercial documentation for project status meetings, managing risks and opportunities, negotiating change requests, and working with internal and external stakeholders to protect and improve the project result.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Take full responsibility for the financial results of assigned large-scale customer projects, ensuring regular commercial controlling, accurate reporting, and compliance with applicable Financial Reporting Guidelines and local accounting requirements.
- Optimize project cash flow, assets, financing instruments, guarantees, bonds, securities, invoicing, and payment allocation in line with project progress and contractual terms.
- Partner closely with the Project Manager and project team to drive project performance, support decision-making, and ensure that risks and opportunities are appropriately reflected in project calculations.
- Manage project execution throughout the full project lifecycle until final acceptance, including milestone adherence, budget control, project planning, documentation, and handover to after sales or service.
- Support contract reading, derive actions related to risks, opportunities, and contractual obligations, and contribute to contractual and commercial feasibility assessments during handover from sales to execution.
- Drive change orders with strong margin contribution and support claim management by identifying, defending, mitigating, and escalating claims at an early stage.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, consortium partners, suppliers, internal functions, and senior stakeholders across different countries and cultures.
- Contribute to project procurement and logistics strategies in alignment with relevant stakeholders.
- Lead or support lessons learned activities, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement within the project and wider organization.
- Lead and develop the project Finance team
What You Bring
- Successful completion of studies, such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or a comparable vocational or academic qualification in a business field related to project management, such as business administration, economics, engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Certification as a Senior Project Manager according to IPMA B, or a comparable certification or proven experience.
- At least 60 months of project management experience in complex projects, for example as a Commercial Project Manager responsible for executing customer projects in Category B.
- Experience managing complex international projects and leading intercultural teams.
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to understand project financials, contractual obligations, risks, opportunities, and the business behind the data.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, customers, project teams, suppliers, consortium partners, and internal functions.
- Advanced data literacy and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret project data and support business decision-making
- Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship building, networking, conflict management, resilience, intercultural awareness, entrepreneurial mindset, and goal orientation.
