About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
Your day begins by receiving a Request for Quotation (RFQ) from the engineering team and reviewing it to ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and ready for release. Once validated, you issue the RFQ to pre-qualified subcontractors and suppliers while coordinating with internal stakeholders to support proposal development. Throughout the day, you evaluate incoming bids, negotiate pricing, scope, and commercial terms, and collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure technical requirements and project objectives are aligned. You also build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying opportunities to improve competitiveness and reduce costs across high-voltage substation construction projects.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Solicit competitive quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to support proposals and construction projects for high-voltage substation scopes.
- Negotiate pricing, scope, schedules, and contract terms to achieve the best commercial outcomes while maintaining project requirements.
- Review RFQ packages from engineering to verify completeness and coordinate with internal teams to resolve any gaps before release.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers across the United States to support current and future business opportunities.
- Monitor market conditions, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement supplier-driven improvements that enhance project competitiveness and company value.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in project management, estimating, purchasing, or procurement within the construction industry.
- General construction experience required; knowledge of electrical systems and components used in high-voltage substation construction is preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and solutions-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
