About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Grid Connection & Modelling Engineer, you will develop and validate electrical simulation models for wind turbines and renewable energy power plants, ensuring compliance with grid code requirements and project commitments. You will perform power system studies, prepare technical documentation, and collaborate with engineering, sales, and customer teams to provide expert support on grid connection and modelling topics while contributing to the continuous improvement of Siemens Energy's modelling solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Ensure timely delivery of models, avoiding project delays and potential penalties.
Develop and configure electrical models for customer delivery according to project contractual obligations and deadlines.
Prepare technical reports demonstrating compliance with project-specific grid code requirements.
Transfer technical knowledge into wind turbine product models delivered to customers.
Support internal and external customers regarding simulation & model-related issues.
Support Sales during customer meetings and contract negotiations concerning wind turbine electrical systems.
Participate in defining and maintaining the company's electrical modelling roadmap.
Prepare and maitain documentation, including: design reports, validation reports, user manuals.
Generate and/or integrate automatically generated code into the modelling & simulation efforts.
Prepare grid code analysis reports for customer projects.
Provide generic electrical support regarding wind turbine generator (WTG) capabilities.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical&Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, or a relevant field.MSc and/or PhD is a strong advantage.
Specialization in grid connection of wind power and power system studies.
Ideally 5+ years of experience in power systems analysis or similar experience in the educational sector.
High level of written and spoken English.
Software & Programming Skills: Experience with at least one of the power system simulation tools such as: DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, MATLAB & Simulink. More is a big plus.
Expertise on Grid Connection & Power System Studies: Wind farm grid connection, load flow, harmonics, short circuit, dynamic and transient stability studies, and grid code compliance analysis.
Expertise on Electrical Engineering & Renewable Energy: Transmission and distribution networks, power electronics, electrical machines, grid interaction (SSR, SSCI, weak grids), wind energy principles, DFIG/full converter technologies, and renewable energy systems (wind, PV, storage).
Expertise on Modelling, Simulation & Control: Development and simulation of wind farms, power systems, control algorithms, wind turbine models, renewable power plant controls, and integration of compiled code into simulation tools.
