A Snapshot of Your Day

To ensure that all steam turbine and generator maintenance, overhaul, repair, installation, commissioning, and field service activities are performed in accordance with contract requirements, industry standards, OEM specifications, quality management systems, and customer expectations. The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, managing non-conformities, and driving continuous improvement to achieve zero-defect execution and high customer satisfaction.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements. Develop and monitor Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Procedures, and Method Statements.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, customer requirements, OEM standards, and applicable industry codes. Support internal and external quality audits and facilitate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform and coordinate inspections during turbine and generator dismantling, repair, assembly, alignment, and commissioning activities. Verify critical dimensions, clearances, tolerances, and technical parameters against OEM requirements.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, checklists, measurement records, and quality documentation. Monitor calibration status of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Witness and verify rotor and stator inspections, turbine blade inspections, journal and thrust bearing inspections, shaft runout measurements, alignment and coupling checks, NDT activities (PT, MT, UT, ET, VT), dynamic balancing activities, generator electrical tests, performance and commissioning tests
  • Identify, document, and investigate quality issues and non-conformities. Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and monitor their closure.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Serve as the quality focal point for customers during inspections and audits. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Support customer inspections, FATs, and site acceptance activities.
  • Maintain quality records and inspection dossiers. Prepare quality reports, KPI dashboards, and lessons learned. Ensure complete traceability of repair and inspection records.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline with 5–10 years of experience in QA/QC within: steam Turbine Services, Generator Services, Power Plant Maintenance, Rotating Equipment Maintenance
  • Experience with major OEM equipment such as Siemens Energy, GE, Mitsubishi Power, Ansaldo, Toshiba, or Alstom is preferred.
  • Understanding steam turbine construction and operation is essential, including rotor and blade inspection techniques. Knowledge of bearing systems, steam path assessment, and turbine alignment and assembly procedures is crucial for maintaining efficiency and performance.
  • Proficiency in generator knowledge involves rotor and stator inspection, electrical testing, and diagnostics. Familiarity with generator assembly, commissioning processes, and insulation systems, as well as the differences between air- and hydrogen-cooled generators, is important for effective management.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is fundamental for maintaining quality standards. Skills in developing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality auditing, root cause analysis, and statistical process control are essential for ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  • A solid understanding of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, including Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Eddy Current Testing (ET), is crucial for detecting flaws and ensuring component reliability.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools, such as micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators, is essential for accurate assessments. Expertise in laser alignment systems and other precision instruments is necessary for maintaining quality and performance standards.
  • Desired certifications include ISO 9001 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor, ASNT Level II (VT/PT/MT/UT), NACE/Coating Inspection Certification (desirable), Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred), API Q1/Quality Training (advantageous)
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling them to tackle complex challenges effectively. A high attention to detail ensures accuracy in all tasks, while a customer-focused mindset prioritizes client satisfaction.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills facilitate clear information sharing, and teamwork and collaboration foster a positive work environment.
  • Leadership and mentoring capability are essential for guiding team members, while the ability to make decisions under pressure is crucial in fast-paced situations. Continuous improvement orientation drives the pursuit of excellence and innovation in processes and outcomes.
