A Snapshot of Your Day:

As a Development Engineer, you will join our expanding Circuit Breaker R&D group in Bucharest. This role is crucial for supporting upcoming development projects for Air Insulated Switchgear, directly contributing to our business continuity and growth. You will be a key member of an international team, collaborating closely with colleagues in Germany to enhance our high-voltage product portfolio.

The core of this position involves the mechanical design and development of high-voltage circuit breakers, from initial prototypes to series production. You will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models, performing technical analyses, and ensuring designs meet cost, quality, and timeline objectives. This includes managing project risks and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation compliant with international standards.

How you will make an Impact:

  • Product Design & Development
    • Develop and detail 3D models and 2D technical drawings for high-voltage circuit breaker components and assemblies using CAD software (e.g., Creo, Siemens NX).
    • Lead the development of assemblies and parts from prototype through to series production.
    • Modify and optimize existing product designs to improve performance, enhance manufacturability, and control product costs.
    • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Technical Analysis & Project Control
    • Perform technical analyses, including tolerance stack-ups and clearance checks, to ensure design integrity.
    • Analyze and evaluate project-related risks, developing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
    • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation in compliance with international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
    • Monitor and control key project parameters including product cost, development timeline, and quality.
  • Collaboration & Process Improvement
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, procurement, quality) and provide technical clarification to all stakeholders.
    • Engage with the development team in Germany, including occasional international travel for training and project alignment.
    • Provide technical support during prototyping, assembly, and testing, assisting in troubleshooting technical issues.
    • Actively identify and contribute to process and interface optimization within the engineering workflow.

What you Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in product design, preferably with high-voltage switchgear or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Creo, Siemens NX) and experience with PLM systems.
  • 2D Technical Drafting & GD&T
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Systems
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management
  • Knowledge of International Standards (IEC, IEEE, EN)
  • Business-fluent English communication skills are required.
