Offshore Automation is part of our Grid Technologies Solutions organization and plays a key role in delivering automation solutions for complex offshore energy infrastructure. We operate in a technically demanding environment where project success depends on strong execution, clear interfaces, standardized solutions, and close cooperation across engineering, project management, commissioning, suppliers, customers, and international partners. Our ambition is to make Offshore Automation more scalable, more efficient, and more future-ready. This means improving how we execute projects, how we use digital tools, how we standardize technical solutions, and how we continuously strengthen the economic performance of our project portfolio.
As a Project Manager Offshore Automation, you will lead international automation projects from tender to handover, managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, and stakeholders. You will also drive standardization, improve project execution and profitability, and promote the use of digital tools, AI, and modern collaboration methods. We seek an experienced, certified project manager with strong process automation expertise.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead and manage complex Offshore Automation sub-projects with full responsibility for project execution, cost, schedule, quality, risk, and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the central interface between customers, internal engineering teams, commissioning, suppliers, consortium partners, and international stakeholders
- Drive project execution in an international environment while serving primarily German customers with high expectations regarding reliability, transparency, and delivery performance
- Ensure that contractual, technical, commercial, and project-specific requirements are clearly understood, aligned, and consistently fulfilled
- Manage project risks, claims, opportunities, changes, and deviations proactively throughout the full project lifecycle
- Integrate standardized technical solutions and modular execution approaches into project delivery to improve quality, efficiency, and scalability
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and standardization of workflows, documentation, tools, templates, and project governance
- Use digital tools, data-driven transparency, and AI-supported methods to improve project planning, reporting, decision-making, and collaboration
- Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented project culture across functions, locations, and cultures
What You Bring
- A completed technical degree, ideally in automation technology, electrical engineering, process automation, computer science, industrial engineering, or a comparable field | However, we also welcome "natural-born" project managers with vocational education. Experience is what matters most.
- A recognized project management certification, PM @Siemens or IPMA
- Ideally 10 years of professional experience as a Project Manager in process automation, industrial automation, energy, infrastructure, offshore, or comparable large-scale project environments
- Strong experience in managing complex technical projects with international stakeholders, demanding customers, and multiple execution interfaces
- Solid understanding of automation systems, control systems, software-based solutions, engineering workflows, testing, and commissioning interfaces
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, evaluate project economics, and protect project profitability
- Proven ability to manage risks, claims, changes, schedules, resources, technical clarifications, and customer expectations in parallel
- High willingness to travel internationally and nationally, expected to be above 40%, depending on project phase and customer/site requirements
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are welcome
- A curious, forward-thinking mindset with a strong interest in digitalization, AI tools, automation trends, and modern ways of working
- Openness to international collaboration, different cultures, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
