A Snapshot of Your Day

As Customs Regional Head for North America, you act as the primary interface between Siemens Energy’s Global Customs Headquarters and the local customs organizations in the U.S. and Canada.

You are responsible for defining, implementing, and continuously evolving a North America customs strategy as well as an NA‑specific Internal Control Program, fully aligned with Siemens Energy’s global customs strategy, internal governance principles, and applicable local regulations.

In this role, you lead and develop the North America customs organization end‑to‑end—covering people leadership, organizational setup, budgeting, capability building, and operational stability. You serve as the senior escalation point while ensuring that customs processes are robust, transparent, and scalable.

With a strong focus on process excellence, digitalization, and system‑supported execution, you actively drive the transition toward a data‑driven, future‑proof customs operating model, always in close alignment with the global customs function and the central IT roadmap.

As Regional Head for Customs NA, you also represent Siemens Energy externally toward government authorities, customs administrations, and relevant industry associations. Internally, you work in close partnership with the Business Areas and key functions to balance compliance, efficiency, and business needs in a pragmatic and solution‑oriented manner.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • By leading and developing a regional team of customs experts across multiple locations in the U.S. and Canada, fostering trust, clarity, and accountability
  • By translating strategic objectives into clear regional guidance, governance structures, and executable processes
  • By driving standardized, system‑supported customs processes, with a strong focus on automation, data quality, and transparency
  • By collaborating closely with global customs, IT, and other functional counterparts to ensure alignment with global standards and roadmaps
  • By acting as a business‑oriented sparring partner for the Business Areas, enabling informed decisions while safeguarding compliance
  • By continuously challenging existing setups and introducing pragmatic improvements to strengthen efficiency and resilience

What You Bring

  • A university degree in customs, law, economics, business administration, or a comparable field
  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker qualification
  • Deep professional expertise in customs operations, customs processes, and customs compliance within a complex, international environment
  • Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into effective processes, controls, and IT‑supported solutions
  • Strong leadership experience, including direct people leadership and leading managers of other teams, and the ability to lead teams across different cultural and organizational contexts
  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build constructive relationships with business stakeholders, peers, and global counterparts
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, enabling clear, structured, and impactful communication at all levels
  • A strong systems and process mindset, with experience working in integrated ERP / GTM environments (Experience with MIC systems would be a plus) and in close alignment with IT organizations
