A Snapshot of Your Day
Perform design, calculation and review of technical information for the manufacture of electrical transformers, in accordance with standards, international procedures (ANSI, ASME,CFE, DIN, ISO, IEEE, CSA, ASTM), internally established quality policies (TDR) and customer specifications, meeting the needs of customers and STM, with respect for the environment and adherence to safe work practices and prevention of illicit activities.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Design and develop mechanical components for power transformer systems, ensuring proper integration with electrical parts such as windings, clamps, core structures, and fastening systems.
Analyze and control the impact of mechanical tolerances, materials, and geometries on electrical performance, including insulation coordination, BIL levels, and dielectric stress distribution.
Ensure proper design of grounding systems and current flow paths in the core to prevent circulating currents and optimize electrical behavior.
Define and validate insulation clearances and materials (paper, pressboard, coatings) to ensure compliance with dielectric requirements and minimize partial discharge risks.
Generate, interpret, and maintain detailed engineering drawings and BOMs, including manufacturing instructions such as machining, welding (AWS/ISO), surface finishes, and corrosion protection systems.
Collaborate in high-performance, cross-functional teams while ensuring compliance with EHS, quality systems, and engineering standards, delivering results-oriented engineering solutions.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in heavy industry or power transformer applications.
Strong knowledge of electrical insulation principles, including BIL levels, impulse withstand, dielectric stress distribution, and partial discharge considerations.
Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including stress, deformation, materials behavior, and structural design of steel components.
Experience in metal-mechanical manufacturing processes such as cutting, bending, rolling, welding (WPS, AWS/ISO standards), machining, and surface treatments.
Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo (desirable), SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Inventor, with strong ability to interpret and generate technical drawings and BOMs.
Strong communication skills in English (professional level), with ability to clearly present technical concepts, work independently in remote environments, and adapt to changing engineering requirements.
About the Team
The selected person will work jointly with the Company's Factory Management, commercial and technical teams and other support areas of the Company. Working closely with sales and marketing departments to understand customer requirements and market trends. This helps in designing products that not only meet technical specifications but also appeal to the target market.
