A Snapshot of Your Day

Work Location: ShanShang Dist., Tainan City

This role is for an on-site Resident Engineer at a 9000HL class gas-turbine powerplant in Taiwan. The position serves as the customer's single point of contact for technical matters, ensuring the Long Term Program (LTP) service agreement is maintained through uninterrupted, expert support for their gas turbine assets.

To deliver on this commitment, the role is focused on fostering deep customer collaboration across three core areas: On-site Technical Advisory & Troubleshooting, Maintenance & Outage Support, and Stakeholder Communication & Reporting. This framework ensures the engineer acts as the central technical partner, proactively manages equipment availability, and coordinates seamlessly between the customer, project management, and Siemens Energy's back-office support teams.

Given the focus on providing expert-level guidance and managing complex issues with limited oversight, the ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in gas turbine maintenance or commissioning. They must possess extensive field service experience with gas turbines, strong capabilities in diagnostics and maintenance planning, knowledge around gas turbine control systems and excellent customer relationship management skills.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• 60% On-site Technical Advisory & Troubleshooting

  • Serve as the customer's single point of contact for on-site technical advisory, fostering a strong collaborative relationship regarding gas turbine operations.
  • Lead the coordination of troubleshooting activities for complex operational issues, trips, and shutdowns, engaging Siemens Energy back-office experts as required.
  • Perform condition monitoring of running turbines, including regular visual inspections, to proactively identify and report on potential issues.
  • Provide expert assistance to resolve starting problems, address shutdown conditions, and support equipment restarts to maximize availability.

30% Maintenance & Outage Management

  • Collaborate with the project manager and customer to plan and coordinate all scheduled and unscheduled outages in accordance with the long-term maintenance plan.
  • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive spare parts strategy to ensure critical components are available.
  • Coordinate the on-site logistics of parts and tooling, liaising with the project manager to request replacements and manage inventory.
  • Support the project manager with planning and executing site actions to align with the defined maintenance schedule.

• 10% Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

  • Act as the central liaison and single point of communication between the customer, the Siemens Energy project manager, and back-office engineering support teams.
  • Generate and deliver regular, detailed summary reports on all site activities, outstanding technical issues, and major spares usage.
  • Escalate unresolved technical faults to the appropriate back-office support channels using formal issue tracking procedures and monitor them through to resolution.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 8+ years in field service engineering for gas turbines or large rotating equipment within the power generation industry.

• Proven experience as a subject matter expert in turbine maintenance, operations, and complex troubleshooting.

• Technical Expertise (Mechanical Engineering, Preventive Maintenance, and Commissioning)

• Problem Solving & Analysis (Troubleshooting, Analytical Skills, and Investigation)
